Sharansky: Now We Can't Say We Weren't Warned 13:17 Aug 29, '06 / 5 Elul 5766

(IsraelNN.com) MK Natan Sharansky (Likud), responding to Shabak (General Security Service) chief Yuval Diskin’s briefing to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee Tuesday, said it was the most alarming security assessment he had ever been privy to in his lengthy political career.

"For ten years I have been hearing security reports. I have never heard such an unequivocal and frightening report that calls for immediate action,” Sharansky said. "Every kind of weapon, except for tanks and airplanes, are getting into the Gaza Strip through the Philadelphi Route, including terrorist experts who have been trained in Iran. Hamas is establishing a terrorist army in Gaza.”

“Now it is no longer possible to say they didn't warn us."

Don't be surprised...

Even Natan Sharansky, another fan favorite, loudly criticized the Peace Process yet as minister in the government he SUPPORTED the plan to give away 90% of Hebron!

All of these people listed above -- as well as Prime Minister Ehud Olmert -- were once the "darlings" of the right wing. Every single one of them, including Olmert, spoke at right wing dinners in New York and received thunderous applause from the crowd. Yet, where are they today? Bibi hugged Arafat and gave him 30,000 more guns than Peres. Limor Livnat and Silvan Shalom are advocating a terror state in the heart of Israel. Mofaz left Likud for the Kadima party and is desperately trying to give away as much of YESHA as possible. And Olmert? Well, you know all about him...

"Now that Gaza has elected a Hamas government the political situation will be quite different."

You forgot one thing, the 'but' rule. Every time Israel defends themselves the world finds an excuse to tie its hands with exceptions that apply to no other entity. Some examples -

The disproportionate force will still apply in Gaza. The Hamas has a political, humanitarian arm not associated with the terrorists will still apply. The what about the large percent of the populace who do not support Hamas will still apply. The Gaza population is a victim of Hamas will apply.

Bottom line is that Israel must choose the path it believes is both moral and protects itself. Trying to achieve world approval is the way to the next Holocaust.

I didn't remember Sharansky's position concerning Hevron. But to be fair, he quit his ministerial position to make a statement against the Gaza withdrawal/destruction.
PS, your link was very good.

Although I do believe Israel is doing that and worse, it wasn't me.

With any luck Israel will have a new government before the next war.

Israel cannot justify wiping Gaza clean cause some kid threw a rock at a Jew.

While that may be what you are seeing on TV, in reality the Arab invaders are using artillery rockets.

But in leftist political correctness speech that translates to a Palestinian child throwing rocks.
