DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., said Monday that Democrats shouldn't shy away from pointing out Republican failures on national security.

"If anything is shown by the British uncovering the plot on the airliners, it's simple -- we are not protected," Biden said.

Biden, who has said he is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, was in Iowa to campaign for Rep. Leonard Boswell, D-Iowa, who is in a heated re-election campaign in Iowa's 3rd Congressional District.

Biden said the report of a bipartisan commission named to review the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks is an example of the GOP's failure on national security.

"They gave failing grades, this bipartisan commission, to the Republican congress and to this Republican president for failing on almost every major criterion," Biden said.

Republicans need to publish talking points about who is weak on national defense.

They need to identify all of the issues that senator and representatives have investigated, voted on, spoke about, etc. They should list each issue including but not limited too; The Patriot Act, Wire Tapping, Banking Surveillance, Back Ground Checks, Gitmo, etc. For each issue, they should provide quotes, votes and position documents that highlights all of the democratic politicians for the past 5 years. It would be a large document but it needs to be able to be sorted by 1) politician 2) Issue 3) votes 4) position

The facts would speak for themselves. Let America know where the dems are on protecting our country.

I wonder if he realizes that his comment must be construed to say that, as long as there are folks who would do us harm, we are not protected. The logical follow-on to that is to insist that all who would do us harm must be destroyed before we are protected. Bottom line just prior to the 04 election year the dems realized that 911 and the WOT would make Bush more popular then FDR. In concert they formulated a plot that they would use hollywood and the liberal MSM to make everything that Bush did in response to Terror seem like the wrong decision. Starting with Iraq which 90 percent dems supported initially. They campaigned on Bush lied, made mistakes and is imcompetent they saw a slight shift in the opinion of America. The bottom line is that they hope to hypnotize america into believing this crap the hypnosis has been largely successful and only the politically well informed realize this. Dillema is that the politically unifomed make up a large portion of the voting block. Knowing that Islamic Facists have attacked and killed school children there should be absolutely no mother or father that votes to support a Dem. But they spin and spin. I am starting to think their return to power is inevitable and if that is the case they will rewrite history to blame Bush for any future attack which with their policies in place will be many. Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst.
