This just shows what a truly poor choice ethanol is for a motor fuel. Not to mention that a number of studies show ethanol is a net energy consumer ie you use more fossil fuel energy to produce the ethanol than you get back out of the ethanol you produce.

Stop it. You keep introducing this nonsense, people keep correcting you, and you try it again in the VAIN hope that nobody will notice that you're spinning the same nonsense.

When are you people going to get over this net energy loss arguement? The facts state otherwise. One other note on this. The corn will be grown whether or not there is an ethanol industry. Is there still a net energy loss? If these poor people need food then they can pay me for the corn. Besides most of the corn is used for feeding animals and you still have feed as a by product after you make ethanol. Farmers are not paid to not farm. Set aside acres went out with the last farm bill.

All the new plants use the corn stalks and solid waste to provide themselves with all of their energy requirements with plenty of byproduct left over, which is given away as livestock feed.

The plants are 100% self sufficient, no fossil fuels are used at all.

Perhaps you have ethanol confused with Hydrogen Fuel Cells.

And, a number of studies are wrong.

BTW, recombinant DNA work now underway is going to provide us with high cellulose content crops which when heated will release enzymes that turn the entire mass of material into ethanol.

Think weeds!

In addition, according to WSJ and the EPA, ethanol is a greater pollutant, and costs more per gallon than gasoline while delivering lower mpg.

The continental US has enough coal in the ground to last 3 to 500 years. If we had spent all the time and effort that is going into ethanol production into coal gasification we would be swimming in $1.00 a gallon gas and diesel.

Ethanol is going to rate right up there with CNG, battery powered cars, hybrids, and every other mileage miracle like gas line magnets, intake turbo vanes, catalytic screens under carburetors, fuel tank pills, acetone, moth balls, octane boosters and water injection. Sheese, can't remember them all.

Why not use oil instead? It is already widely available, and supply has never been higher.

You are absolutely wrong.

Buying into oil company propaganda, and now the world hunger crisis will be the death of civilization according to your vision.

The African people who are hungry will remain so until they quit feuding and assume some senblence of civility. Hunger will be averted when poor families quit having 10 children. They are contributing to the problem because they don't have the means to feed a small family, let alone a large family.
And poor people do not have the money to pay for the grain. So the farmer should not give it away because he feels sorry for the hungry. If he gives his hard work away he too will become hungry.
Productive people contribute to healthy living. Unproductive people contribute to unhealthy living.
Productive people contribute to an economy. Unproductive people will always be a drain if they do not change their circumstances. For some, circumstance may be beyond their control. but much of the hunger could be averted if people would just act civilized and not line up for handouts.

And ethanol has a net gain over fossil fuel. Ethanol is cleaner burning and non cancerous compared to oil additives. We need the energy because we are the most productive nation in the world. without our contributions, the world economy will collapse.

You need to explore that myth farther.

Anything we can do to lessen our dependence on foreign fuel makes us less vulnerable to the whims of the oil elite.

With new corn seeds like ROUNDUP ready varieties it takes much less field work to grow an exceptionally good crop and after the corn is used to make ethanol the mash that is left actually makes better cattle feed then regular corn so you get dual use.
