Oh, I know what you meant. However, it was either cast a vote for Shwarzenegger to win or throw away a vote by voting for McClintock and having the votes split between Shwarzenegger and McClintock for a Bustamante win.

Does that make sense? I need some caffeine!

This is extremely disappointing action by Schwarzenegger. Didn't he promise to veto?

Actually, it does not. The government can attach whatever strings it wants to the funds it provides. If you don't like the strings, you don't take the money.

Bingo. Isn't there a pretty well known college that has forgone any federal funds? I seem remember reading about them last week...

Anyone think Arnold's pseudo campaign manager, Sean Hannity, will step up and admit he was wrong to work to get this RINO in office now? This is the cost of compromising and not voting for conservatives.

There is no chance of any type of major change in this nation if conservatives keep electing RINOS to office.

He said he would veto SB 1437 -- a different bill.

There are a slew of GLBT bills on their way to passage,
most of which (if not all) deserve a veto.

Doesn't matter if they're lying about the bills contents, no one upset will believe that.

What "lies" are you referring to? Please be specific.

This legislation would prohibit discrimination based on actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity...

What was that about "unconstitutionally vague"?

You don't know where this goes or how far. Is police or fire protection, "taking the money"?

Your idea is far too conservative for the likes of Free Republic. There are many "traditional conservatives" who see no problem with accepting governmental largesse--they just complain about everyone else who's accepting largesse.

It's unconstitutional as well - as far as I see it, it violates the 1st Amendment...

You're saying that the 1sy Amendment isn't about freedom of speech or religion, but about the right to receive largesse from the government?

I think it's merely a back-door way of complaing about paying for government largess.
That's where I am - - I am sick of paying for it. I want more tax cuts.

The language is very far-reaching when you think of all the places the State spends money. Just not on CalGrants, but childcare, elder care, prison counseling, etc. I assume that this will also apply to the new 1/2 Billion in After school programs. No special study or recreation programs at Christian community centers, etc. Of course, all communists welcome!

Do you call fire protection "government largesse"? Just watch where this goes.

Probably not, but I will not be surprised if government types try and hold such services hostage.

While an old church without fire sprinklers burns down after being fire-bombed by a gay activist?

As I said, we have no idea how far this will go.

No. Do you really believe that police and fire protection can be withheld in a manner free from adverse consequences for the withholder?

This thread is bookmarked. It will serve as a reminder how destructive RINOs can be.

Fire protection is already witheld from those who have excessive fuels around their home. Making that determination is entirely up to our latter-day unionized and and politically correct fire crews.

We're on our way.

OK, here's a nickel's worth of free advice:

Get off of the computer and get that brush cleared away. It's exercise, it's good for you.
