>>>>>>>I'm finding it increasingly difficult to be associated with the Red Cross.<<<<<<

There are TWO Red Cross organisations, not one.

There is a International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, where Red Cross organisations from varius countries are members. That's where pennies collected by school children and volonteers go.

Their role is positive, if somewhat ineffective.

And there is another organisation. The International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC (one mentioned in this article) A PRIVATE enterprise based in Switzerland. They hide behind better known above mentioned organisation and are not too eager to point to the fact they are not related.

ICRC is a profit making machine with murky political goals. It will suffice to say they were the ones who visited Nazi concentration camps and found nothing wrong there.

ICRC operates on the principles of a private company with no public insight. They are nefarious group hiding behind humanitarian front.

I don't understand then:
What is the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement?
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is a phrase that symbolizes the unity of all Red Cross work carried out by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC); the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies; and national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies or their equivalents around the world, including the American Red Cross; and the Magen David Adom in Israel.

How are the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross different?
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (often called the Federation) is an umbrella organization of national Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies that coordinate relief efforts throughout the world occurring outside the theatre of war and other forms of armed conflict.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance.

(I added some underlining and took out some internal linking) It seems to me that there is some closeness between the two organizations. And in any event the anti-religion behavior I saw in LA is a problem whther or not the American Red Cross coooperates with the ICRC.

I want to stress, this is a Problem for me. Of course I want to help in a crisis. But if the Red Cross is going to treat me like a child, be massively inconsistent in their training requirements, and generally be a PITA, I'm going to have to find some other group to work with. That's partially why I'm working on my EMT certification.
