SANTA CLARITA -- A brush fire erupted Monday in semi-rural northern Los Angeles County as hot and windy weather made conditions dangerous.
The blaze was reported at 10:41 a.m. in Placerita Canyon and the initial estimate of five acres was quickly outdated.
"It's bigger than that," said county fire Inspector Ed Lozano.
The fire was moving from light grasses into medium brush, and five fire engines were requested for structure protection in the area, an eastern area of the city of Santa Clarita adjacent to the Angeles National Forest.

Must be August.
The title you used had to be changed to the original published title. Please don't alter titles.
I used to go to the state park there quite often. Pretty thick growth in that reagion if memory serves me correctly.
Sorry, they must have changed the title later. I always do a copy and paste for the titles.
Woah nelly. That area is way more developed than it used to be. Bet there are thousands of homes at risk

The problem with using titles other than the published title is that it increases the number of duplicate threads. We're trying to keep duplicate threads to a minimum.
Sometimes web sites change the story, and sometimes they change both the title and the story. Please confirm the title you use is identical to the source's title before you hit post.
Thanks.
20 or so structures lost....but it was an abandoned facility used for filming...I think the fire is almost out judging from the live feed and scanner traffic
Sun rises in east, sets in west, news at 11.
Placerita Canyon was the home of Gene Autry's Melody Ranch Studios.
I am watching KCAL's feed lots of white smoke and a few flames
Got this in an email:
Just returned from the fire. Started on the north side of Placerita
Canyon in heavy grass, the fire picked up a head of steam and blasted
through the big trees lining the road and spotted to the south side
and going like hell.....The fire guys have done a good job of stopping
the forward speed of the fire on the north side just short of the
homes. The south side is still going great guns in very heavy fuel.
The fire guys are trying very hard to keep it from going up Bear
Mountain and Bear Devide where LA County FD Camp 9 is located.
Numerous type 3 and type 1 strike teamsd either enroute or on
scene. The structures that burned were part of an abandoned industrial
complex. More were trailer type structures approx 50 feet by 150 feet.
There were also 2 or 3 house type structured that burned.
I had to come back in order to get my pictures to the AP and take
care of my burned neck. Got that when the fire exploded through the
big trees.....More later if needed.....
The ic just requested 5 additional type 1 strike teams.....
We just got a scanner bulletin up here about a 211 at the Malibu Wells Fargo on PCH. 245 was committed with the suspect's car.
This is not the only fire in LA county today, either. And there's a new one, small still in San Bernadino county...weather must be ripe for burning.
I am pretty sure this is what burned.

Just look at the KCAL9 feed, showing one of the big bombers, they zoomed in on the copilot, now they are showing the flames
I bet those old buildings were full of asbestos....the owner probably wishes they all burned down.
