Not much of a mystery - if the cord moved while the shutter was open, it would have blurred and would then become more difficult to see against a dark BG - if you look you can see the blur.
I just hope the wife of the soldier in fron t doesn't see this pic.

This is the biggest non-anything I've seen in quite some time. Much ado about nothing.
Photo was not photoshopped. The blur running down the middle of the picture is the moving microphone cord. Case closed.
The bigger mystery is why such a small room with such a small crowd to see those legs? Couldn't be Jessica Simpson, she's a bigger draw than that.
