"Zola Levitt Presents," a long-running, issue-oriented weekly TV program often critical of the jihadist ideology within Islam, has been canceled by the Trinity Broadcasting Network, producers says, because of efforts by TBN to cater to its growing audience in the Arab world.
Though spokesmen for TBN were unavailable over the weekend for comment, the cancellation, effective today, would make it the second long-time program scrubbed by the largest Christian broadcaster because of sensitivities about Muslim content.
In January of this year, Hal Lindsey's "The International Intelligence Briefing," notified TBN he would not be back because of what he considered to be efforts to muzzle his opinions about radical Islam.
Lindsey, author of "The Late Great Planet Earth" and considered to be the biggest selling author alive today and a weekly columnist for WND, had anchored the program for the last 12 years on the world's largest Christian network.
Zola Levitt Ministries made the announcement about TBN in the September issue of its newsletter, the Levitt Letter.
"Our television ministry could be facing its own Armageddon of sorts," wrote Mark Levitt. "TBN committed to continuing our broadcasts only so long as we could furnish new programs that featured Zola. A high-level TBN executive suggested that Jeff's TV series on Isaiah would be satisfactory thereafter in terms of being neither too pro-Israel nor unduly anti-Arab. TBN, you see, is modifying its programming to be suitable for broadcast in Arab nations. Despite our best efforts to appease their programming directors, our last program on TBN will air on Monday, Aug. 28."
The show will continue on the Internet, Mark Levitt explains.
The program also will continue to air on several networks via the Sky Angel satellite television system, according to Sky Angel Vice President Nancy Christopher. [For program details, type in 'Levitt' in search engine on Sky Angel page]. The networks are Angel Two, Guardian Television, Total Living Network and Liberty Channel.
Zola Levitt, known for the tagline, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem," died last April after a battle with cancer. His television program and his teachings emphasized the Jewish roots of Christianity.
FYI
Zola Levitt died I believe.
TBN offends most Christians as far as I can tell.
Will they no longer broadcast Mel Brooks' History of the World because of the musical Inquisition scene?
That would be tragic. LOL
Yes he did. His son was apparently carrying on the ministry.
Actually, I was wrong, going to Zola's website, they had appointed Jeff Seif to succeed Zola. So, the ministry was carrying on. TBN was sensoring what was politically acceptable for them to air based upon whether or not it would offend Muslims. Note to TBN, the Gospel is offensive to most people. You don't sensor the Word of God just because someone might be offended by it.
Wow. I didn't know Zola Levitt died. I always liked him, though I rarely watched his show.
censor.
Thank you. <:o)
The Crouch's must be getting some oleogenous cash. Why else would they want to be "Useful Infidels"?
It certainly offends me...
I don't see it like that AT ALL. They are trying to reach Muslims around the globe. You don't do that by telling them they are evil and the religion they practice is evil, no more than you would try to get people into YOUR church by going out to the nearest street corner, and telling all who pass by how wicked they are.
More "Free Speech" issues around Islam...
"more than you would try to get people into YOUR church by going out to the nearest street corner, and telling all who pass by how wicked they are."
But that's what hellfire and damnation preaching was all about. Nowadays, converts are solicited by telling them how sweet Jesus is and how he can make them rich and successful. You've come a long way, Beelzebub.
