After being postponed due to war in Lebanon, World Pride parade will take place one day before eve of Rosh Hashana. 'This year, parade has great significance in light of wave of incitement that Jerusalem community suffered from,' Open House says

The Jerusalem Open House for Pride and Tolerance organization announced on Monday that the World Pride parade will take place on September 21 in Jerusalem. The pride parade was previously set to take place in August, but it was postponed due to the war in Lebanon.

The Open House views the parade, which will take place a day before the eve of Rosh Hashana, as having "a central role in the ongoing struggle for the promotion of the freedom of expression, the rights of the (Gay and Lesbian) community in Jerusalem and the promotion of democratic and pluralistic values in and around the city. The parade has a great significance this year especially due to the unprecedented wave of incitement the Jerusalem community suffered from before and during the World Pride events."

The parade is set to leave from the Independence Garden and will end with a celebration at the Bell Garden. The Open House announced that they approached the Jerusalem Municipality and the police to receive the appropriate permits for holding the parade, but that they are still waiting for answers.

Pride parade in Jerusalem every year since 2002

The Open House Chairperson Noa Sattath said they are "hoping and believing that the police and the municipality will fill their legal obligation. We are ready for every legal option." The members of the organization point out that in May, the Jerusalem regional court ruled that the municipality is not allowed to discriminate against the GLBT community in the allocation of certain resources in the city.

They also pointed out that "pride parades have been taking place for many years all across the world to mark the struggle for equal rights for members of the community, and they have been taking place in Israel since the nineties. Every year since 2002, Jerusalem also had its own pride parade." The parade will complete the World Pride events that took place in the city between August 6 and 12, in which Israelis and many international guests participated.

World Pride parade will take place one day before eve of Rosh Hashana

Maybe on the afternoon of the day following their little parade they can all partake of one of the customs of Rosh Hashana, Tashlikh, where adherents throw some bread into flowing water as a symbol of casting off their sins.

In Yahrusalem, the city of our Creators Choice. Where Boaz threshed grain, where Dawid ruled mightily and Scholomo built the Temple. How can such an abomination occur? Some thing is not right there for this to be happening. I would not want to be there at that parade, much less in that country. I would not be able to control my hate or my hands. Pray for the peace of Yahrusalem.

This is exactly where the gays go wrong---with an in your face with a middle finger attitude. For a group of folks who crave acceptance, tolerance etc etc etc, they really don't do much to foster it by their antics. I know a lot of folks here in FR are of the Bible believing persuasion and will go on and on about the sinfulness of homosexuality-- that's personal. I am not into the soul saving business. I am talking about plain common sense, how people act and react, what's good for society as a whole, politics and persuasion. The gay activist crowd is either clueless or chooses to be clueless on these things. Are they so enfatuated with the cheap thrill of having a F U attitude that they don't consider what others think or believe or the fall out of their actions?

promotion of democratic and pluralistic values

In which case they should not waste our time in safe pluralistic Democratic nations. If they are all so worried about "Democratic and pluralistic values" they should be holding their Fag Fests in Tehran, or Bejhing or Pyongyang, NOT Jerusalem

You mean, where Boaz married a Moabite woman, against the words of the Torah? Where David spied on Bathsheba bathing, then sent her husband to his death, so that he could make her another wife? And where Solomon had hundreds of wives and thousands of concubines?

It makes an excellent point on the superiority of Western values. What people are free to do in Jerusalem, they are not free to do in the cities you list.

God will NOT be mocked!!!

Sure He will be. He created the whole universe. He created a free willed intelligence -- mankind -- complete with the gifts of creativity and the ability of satire. He should be expecting a little mockery now and again. And if He isn't big enough to put up with it, I'm not sure I want to worship Him.

I know there's got to be relevent Biblical passage out there somewhere.

TADA!!!

Genesis 13:13
Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.

Genesis 18:20-21
 20.  Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous
 21.  that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."

Genesis 19:4-7
 4.  Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house.
 5.  They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."
 6.  Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
 7.  and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing.

Psa. 12:8 8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.

Ain't this just FABULOUS??          More?

Isaiah 3:9
The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

Ezekiel 16:49-50
 49.  "`Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
 50.  They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

But there IS hope!!!

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

 9.  Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
 10.  nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
 11.  And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

If you could NOT change, you would be in most pitiful shape.....

Why should they? They are winning the cultural war the world over. Their techniques seem to be working as far as I can tell. Sorry to say that the only cultures where they are not overtly winning is in conservatively Muslim countries.

Both Solomon and David ran afoul with God by sinning, facts you conveniently left out. The latter for the reason you stated, the former for worshipping false idols and thus promoting idolatry. To touch on the concubine angle, he may have been influenced by his foreign concubines to embrace fertility gods.

I would posit that the homosexual lifestyle is one of self-worship, hedonism and narcissism, kinds of idolatry in our post-modern society. Just replace the golden calf with a throbbing member.

And yes, Ruth was a foreigner. But her devotion to a good Israelite, humbling herself and doing what was right made her an example for all to follow.

If we could only look past our parsing and partisanship and do the same.

Just damn!

I saw the headline and read the first couple sentences.

I thought they were inviting everyone on the planet to take pride in being from Earth.

Instead it is just a global celebration of sodomy.

It's a mental illness and they are crying out for attention ("look at me! look at me!").

Acceptance and "traditional" married life is the last thing they are looking for.

It is called an "alternative" lifestyle for a reason and they choose to take an alternate path.

The question was "How can such an abomination occur?" My point is, whether or not a gay parade would be one, abominations, by Biblical standards have long occurred in Jerusalem, by the very people that the poster I was responding to mentioned.

What religion are you? You call H-Shem by the name that is not to be pronounced, and misspell Yerushalayim, as if G-d's name were part of it, (and not Ir- Shalem; city of Peace) Dawid? Since when is a vav a 'w'? Are you temmani?

Boaz married a 'Moavia', not a 'Moavi' (female vs male) When we learn the law that a female Moabite is NOT prohibited to enter the people of G-d precisely from this part of scripture, it's odd that you learn the opposite.
David's sin was of a plane beyond our comprehension. BatSheva's husband had rebelled against the monarchy, an infracture punishable by death, David had requested of G-d to be tested (to raise to the level of the 3 forefathers), and failed, although Batsheva was destined to him, he rushed due to his lust, and was punished by the death of the first born son of he and Batsheva. There is not a pure soul on earth who has not sinned and repented over and over (seven times).
Why bring up the one sin attributed to the early kings of Israel in order to soil the name of the Jewish people?
Especially when these sins are spelled out and repentence and punishment meted out?
