HOUSTON -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old Hurricane Katrina evacuee who had been wanted by Houma, La., authorities on a murder warrant.
Houston police said they didn't know Sunday if the shooting of Cory Chevell Stovall was connected to his Louisiana warrant.
Stovall was shot and killed about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the courtyard of a Houston apartment complex. Police say they have not established a motive. They said in a news release that it did not appear that Stovall was the victim of a robbery.
Two Katrina evacuees are being questioned in the death, but no charges have been filed.
what goes around...
Another great refugee won't be coming back.
It's a good start.
"...and another one bites the dust!"
I wonder if it was a Texas or a fellow NOLA boy that dropped the hammer on him?
Not sure that it matters, the laws of averages has won.
You know, they "could" be Texans (by now).
How long does it take to establish residency? It's been a year already.
I really don't know. Generally, their kids are in school here, but they voted in the last NOLA election.
We still have somewhere between 90,000 and 150,000 in Houston.
Well, that saved the taxpayers a little money.
