The following letter is from an MD patient who received the amnion stem cell implant, and is authorized for release by Stem Cell Pharma, Inc.
August 19, 2006
Dear Dr._______
The following is an account of my progress since my stem cell/placenta implant on June 29, 2006 in the early evening for adult onset fascioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy of 23 years.
July 24, 2006- General improvements are: My good muscles are better-more firm and a little more bulk (this was noticed by my chiropractor) so I feel stronger and movements are a little easier, for example, pushing up from getting out of a chair or car and less fatigue while walking and my knees coming up higher while walking sometimes. This is not noticeable to others yet but people have told me I look very well. Sleep is deeper more restful. Appetite is very good and efficient. I am looking forward to the future.
July 28th- As per your instructions I happily went for a massage. As the massage therapist was working she said the blood moved into the muscles quickly and responded very well to the massage especially in my back where there is very little muscle. She massaged my entire body concentrating on the atrophied areas as you instructed. After the massage I felt wonderful-my energy came up and I had a very good day despite the very hot weather.
July 30th Again a very hot day busy in the morning and then went to the museum with a friend. I felt very tired after viewing the exhibit but with a 15-20 minute rest my energy came back and I was fine. Before the implant I would not have been able to do what I did in the past two days.
August 11th The third massage, the therapist said my muscles felt more supple and rounder. She felt more muscle in my lower back on the right side and in my right quadriceps. My lower back muscles are tight. During the massage on August 18th (the fourth massage), the therapist noted a line of new muscle next to my spine on the right side about up to my waist. And, new muscle in my lower back on the left side, the way the right side looked and felt the pervious week. This is also visually noticeable to me and my mother.
August 19th My energy level is good and much more reliable. After exercise or a busy day, many of my muscles are sore by evening. I swam twice in one week and was tired several hours after the second swim but I felt good. My walking is still slow and the hip drop on my left side is still very much there, but I feel more confident that I will not trip and fall. My need for compensation has not changed but I feel things are a little easier. My movements are becoming smoother, however subtle this is, it is noticeable to people who know me well. Only more good news to come!
Most Sincerely Yours,
P.S. I am making an appointment with my doctor, and send you the report, as soon as available.
