That was a good clarification. It really wasn't necessary for any but the willfully obtuse. The atheists often hide behind the Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. etc., taking false umbrage on their behalf.
But I'm sure that, like Mel Gibson, she has not clarified or apologized enough, or in the proper way. (Paraphrasing someone else) You were sitting, now stand, now kneel, now look sad, now look very sad, not that sad, now in the morning, the afternoon, on a hill, in a valley, etc.
Many of her critics are phony. Her belief in God conflicts with their fundamental rejection of God. All subsequent criticisms are just a cover.

Katherine Harris is going to lose big time. Get over it.

Say her remarks in the paper yesterday and made a contribution to her campaign that day.

If you don't think that people who are not from Florida should post on these threads, why don't you just post in the Florida section?

Katherine Harris is going to lose big time. Get over it. By playing this charade, when Harris loses she gets to state that Harris would have one except for people like you. That is why she keeps posting therse threads to News/Activism even thought she repeatedly states that non-floridians shouldn't be posting on the threads.

I knew that at some point, Katherine Harris would be criticized for being too inclusive. Yes, there is the question of Islam, as per your post. And how about the Wiccans, Satanists, etc. etc.?
But to be fair, is KH supposed to list all the religions of the world a make a pronouncement on them. Of course not.
She is merely emphasizing traditional American values that have often been referred to as Judeo-Christian, or more simply as Christian. In this country, these values originate primarily from Christianity.
As to your last statement, "All cultures are equal!" I'm sure you do not believe that, and neither do I.

"Bryan Rudnick,....I know that she encourages people of all faiths to engage in government so that our country can continue to thrive on the principles set forth by our Founding Fathers, without malice towards anyone."" Wow...Rudnick sure pitches a fast 180.
I like what Bryan Rudnick has to say. Why isn't he running? :)

It's not over till the fat lady sings.
Karl Marx was a big believer in inevitability. And I think he was wrong on everything.
I liked the poster who said it would be a miracle if she wins. Perhaps.

not quite a clarification...
To: ChessExpert
No doubt a Judeo-Christian miracle based firmly on the religious beliefs of our Founding Fathers and campaign manager's grandparents.

She's a staunch conservative. She's the only one running with any guts. She's also the only one running who sticks to her principles. We need more politicians like that.
The media had a field day distorting her position. Their attacks usually wear off when countered with the truth.
Let's get her the nomination and then highlight her honesty and integrity in the face of her opponents' debauchery.

she is committed to standing by Israel.
Can you say that about Democrats these days?
But this is just too real.
Its just as with Mel Gibson. He shoots his mouth off when drunk the same day a Muslim shoots six Jewish women in Seattle, and who do the atheists yammer about as being a dangerous anti-Jewish bigot?
Bigot:
a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance
From some of the postings Ive seen, Ive concluded there is a lot of anti-Christian bigotry from the atheist right on FreeRepublic. And if you dont think these people are fundies just question evolution and youll soon know.

Well, at least Jews are okay now. Sikhs, Buddhists, deists and atheists still not acceptable, but I know I'm in the minority there.
I don't like her blaming her audience for her comments. It's tacky to assume your audience is bigoted and play on that.

Many of her critics are phony. Her belief in God conflicts with their fundamental rejection of God. All subsequent criticisms are just a cover. Her belief in a religious litmus test for service in government conflicts with my belief in a secular, inclusive state.
We're fighting enough religious bigots over in the ME, we don't need them here at home.

She was just saying that her comments were taken way out of proportion. The media is looking to harpoon her and they are distorting her comments.

Christianity is not Islam. No but there is a small, ugly, minority of Christians who would quite happily deny non-Christians their rights if they could get away with it. Harris' little Dominionist speech has certainly churned them to the surface here on FR.
