STATEMENT OF CLARIFICATION
TAMPA--In a recent article published in the Florida Baptist Witness, Congresswoman Katherine Harris was asked to comment on the interplay of faith and politics in the public square. In the interview, Harris was speaking to a Christian audience, addressing a common misperception that people of faith should not be actively involved in government. Addressing this Christian publication, Harris provided a statement that explains her deep grounding in Judeo-Christian values.
Bryan Rudnick, Harris for Senate Campaign Manager stated, "I joined this campaign because Congresswoman Harris is a passionate supporter of Israel, the Jewish people and always has the best interests of all Floridians at heart. As the grandson of Holocaust survivors, I know that she encourages people of all faiths to engage in government so that our country can continue to thrive on the principles set forth by our Founding Fathers, without malice towards anyone."
In Congress, Katherine Harris has consistently supported pro-Israel legislation. Representative Harris co-sponsored numerous resolutions including: H. Con. Res. 248, to honor the life and work of Simon Wiesenthal and to reaffirm Congress' commitment to the fight against anti-Semitism and all forms of intolerance; H.Con.Res. 392, to recognize the 58th anniversary of the independence of the State of Israel; H.Con.Res. 101, to push for the European Union to add Hezbollah to its list of terrorist organizations; and H.Res. 575, to stress that Hamas and other terrorist organizations should not take part in elections held by the Palestinian Authority.
As a Florida State Senator, Katherine Harris co-sponsored S. 3062, the Holocaust and Yom Hashoah Victims Resolution, encouraging observation of the day to remember the horrific tragedy of the Holocaust. While serving as Secretary of State, Congresswoman Harris advocated for funding for the Florida - Israel Linkage Institute to promote business/ cultural/educational/technological exchanges, and she traveled to Israel for personal and professional purposes. As Harris frequently reminds voters in her campaign speeches for the U.S. Senate, she is committed to standing by Israel.

Had a nice afternoon waving signs during rush hour with Katherine Harris. LOTS of horns honking and thumbs up!
At the REC meeting tonight, Harris received a very warm welcome, and several standing ovations from the SRO crowd. Harris was energized, and she continues to maintain her focus on defeating Nelson in November.
Harris was the only U.S. Senate candidate present for the candidate forum. For the 13th District race, Tramm Hudson, Mark Flanagan, and Nancy Dietert were there. It was a great meeting, and we are focused to GOTV.

Thanks for your report on the sign wave and REC meeting! Sounds like you had a great time! And Katherine is getting lots of support from the GOP grassroots.

Leroy Collins is running on his daddy's name. I have yet to see anything constructive coming from his camp.

You don't read very well or have a good memory huh. You started it with post 207 and post 219. You were the first one to start talking about the other candidates and to go off topic, otherwise hijacking the thread. Don't blame others for what you do.
You know you should really stop acting all high and mighty. You are no better then anyone else on these threads. You accuse other people of hijacking threads and bashing candidates and other freepers and you do it your self. Stop being a hypocrite.

I don't have I know where he stands on th eissue. YOu are the one who has a problem. Maybe you should since you don't seem to understand that our immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed. Everyoneelse seems to understand that.

For the present...I will ignore your personal attacks against me and respond one last time.
McBride says that "our immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed".
The problem is ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS not what he calls 'our immigration system'.
Currently, we have laws that provide for legal immigration.
It is the people McBride says he 'speaks for' who have BROKEN OUR LAWS!
AMNESTY IS NOT THE SOLUTION! It will only encourage more of them to break our immigration laws!
And if he really believed that he would say.....'I am against amnesty' on his website!
McBride doesn't say that....
CASE CLOSED!

That's sad and she should have had Jeb and W Bush by her side from the beginning.
It is not the job of the Governor or President to take sides in the primary race for an open seat. I don't even like them doing that when there's an incumbent running, but I understand that a certain amount of reciprocal support is part of doing business.
I don't understand why Harris supporters think she should have been anointed from on high, without having to actually earn her office.

.....Because she profess her own faith does not mean she does not respect others beliefs....
You obviously need to read up on this subject. This is not about professing her own faith, it's about saying that her particular faith should be a prerequisite when voting for someone.
Harris said "if youre not electing Christians then in essence you are going to legislate sin."
She obviously does not respect the faith of others, to label them so.

I am not making any personal attacks against you I only state the truth. If you can't handle the truth then maybe you should not be posting in here.
HE does not support Amnesty. Mel Martinez supports Amnesty. Mel Martinez supports Katherine Harris.
Katherine Harris supports Amnesty as seen in one of the bills she co-sponsored.
2003-2004: Cosponsored H.R. 3142 to grant amnesty to illegal aliens Rep. Harris cosponsored H.R. 3142 to reward certain illegal aliens working in agriculture with amnesty.
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:HR03142:
Will McBride is for Border Security. He is against Amnesty and is for fixing the current Immigration system which is broken and does not seem to be working, because if it was working then we would not be having all these illegal immigrants.

You took it off topic with post 207 and again with Post 219. Post 219 was the first time McBride was ever brought up in this thread and it was done by you . Do you deny posting the the statement in 207 and 219? That is your name below. These posts are the first times that Collins or McBride was mentioned through out this thread and it was done by you.
Don't go around accusing other people of hijacking threads when you do it yourself. If you don't like honesty and the truth or can't handle the heat then get out of the kitchen.
To: NittanyLion; MikefromOhio
Please take a look at #207 about LeRoy Collins, one of the other GOP primary candidates who also gave an interview to the Baptisits.
Some FL Freepers support him but he's a RINO.
Another one Will McBride, an immigration attorney, has marched under the Mexican flag with an 'Immigrants United for Freedom" sign. That group that has coordinated with A.N.S.W.E.R. & CODE PINK in anti-war & anti-Israel rallies.
Katherine Harris represents our conservative values best....and that's why she has our support.

She no more than believes that...If that is all that some here can come up saying about her...The arguments are pretty weak...Lets look at her record....90plus conservative...High rating with the NRA and on and on and on...It is the record that makes a difference here to us in Florida//////CONSERVATIVE/////I think that is the problem with some who are opposed to her....Instead they would rather believe all the liberal hype...What is wrong with hoping that Christians get elected...I could care less what religion gets elected but have a problem if it is a radical Islamist...I think most would here...I forgot Christians shut up and go to the back of the church....Please do not even think about getting other Christians elected....I forgot it is only Dems who can show up in churches and talk religion...Not conservatives...

You're still missing the point.
This isn't about "hoping that Christians get elected." It's not about "show(ing) up in churches and talk(ing) religion".
I could care less what religion gets elected
Then you're one up on Harris. Unless you think she lied.

You know what...I could care less about all this Katherine Harris messed up threads...To me it is about one thing and one thing only...What is her record and what will her record be....Over two terms it has been one thing...Conservative.....That is what I care about....She takes care of vets...she supports our 2nd Amendment...She is against illegal immigration and amnesty...On every single issue that means something to this Conservative Vet. She gets it right....that is the only thing that matters to me...I am sick and tired of so called conservatives wanting to support RINO's I could just scream...Oh sorry that is Dean....We do not do that...LOL

I guess this statement is what everyone is mad at...
published remarks in the weekly journal of the Florida Baptist State Convention, Harris said that God didn't intend for the United States to be a nation of secular laws, and said that failing to elect Christian leaders to office would cause lawmaking bodies to "legislate sin."
I do not see what is wrong with this statement. There is a group of seculars who want to make it legal for Gays to marry...There is those who are secular that promote abortions...Her intent is to Christians to get out and vote and not stay home...She also stated if she had been in front of Jews. She would have encouraged them to get out and vote their faith and on and on....We have to much to lose in this election to dwell on speeches to a Christian group...There is things that every single conservative who is in office that sometimes I do not like...Yet I look at them in the since...Do they support the things that as a conservative that I find important...Her intent was not to infringe on any religions right..The point was that seculars are not the only ones who have the right to run or vote....That Christians have every right to express their opinions and beliefs....and be proud of it...

Then why do you post on them?
The woman is unstable. Her campaign has only a passing acquaintance with the truth. Now this nonsense.
The upshot? The reason you should care? She'll cost a us a Senate seat that we should win.

I have the same right to defend her as you do in making your comments about her....It just gets old to see the same individuals that do nothing but bash her and never ever look at her record...I earned the right to speak my mind along time ago...I just do not have to like how some go about it...You do not even know her to comment on her stability...Your depending on the liberal media to define her for you..Because that is exactly what the seem to do all the time....She is not going to cost us a Senate seat....If the RNC wanted to run someone else they were more than capable in doing so..If you do not like the choice then maybe you should direct your attention to them as in RNC...The last time that I looked at her record it was conservative...Have you looked at it????

The way that I look at it. We may be in trouble in several Senate seats...I put the blame where it belongs...If conservatives do not come out and vote we will lose. If the RNC does not get its act together then we may lose....There is allot of maybes...I read it every single day in the liberal media so it must be true....The only way we are going to lose is to let the Dems and liberal media define this election...Every day the sky is falling....We are in trouble...I think some must really believe it if you just read the Katherine Harris threads.....I have said it once and I will say it again....The only way we can lose is to stay at home and whine about this candidate and that candidate...If you do not go out and support the candidate of your choice then you are to blame...If you live in this state and you do not like her then there is plenty of other choices...I intend on voting for the only true conservative in this election here....;The sky is falling we cannot beat Nelson....At this rate some here may just be right and some here may be happy about it...They have accomplished their job....

Show me where I said that? All I said to another poster was 'since you are not from Florida, she won't miss your vote'' And please tell me where 'the Florida section' is? I did put 'Florida' in the keywords. Is that what you mean? You have said it numerous times before, if not directly on this thread. If you click on the florida flag in your profile, it will take you to a Flordia message board where y'all can live in your Katherine Harris fantasy land without people like me pointing out that she is nuts.
