Hezbollah would not have abducted two Israel Defense Forces soldiers on July 12 had it known that the action would lead to war in Lebanon, the leader of the militant group, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, said in an interview televised Sunday.
Reservist soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev were kidnapped on July 12 in a cross-border raid by Hezbollah guerillas, sparking a 34-day conflict.
Hezbollah is demanding the release of some of the thousands of Arabs in Israeli prisons in exchange for the kidnapped soldiers. We did not think, even one percent, that the capture would lead to a war at this time and of this magnitude. You ask me, if I had known on July 11... that the operation would lead to such a war, would I do it? I say no, absolutely not," he said in an interview with Lebanon's New TV station.

This man is a waste of precious oxygen.
Now I distinctly remember muzzie spokesmen saying that that did not start the war.
Great Comment!!!
This is significant, because it sounds like Nasrallah is admitting he made a mistake in starting the recent war. Real Islamofascists are not supposed to care about waging jihad attacks or the consequences of their attacks on their own forces or the poor Lebanese civilians. Also, he says he does not want Round 2. Why not? These statements make Nasrallah look weak. Maybe Israel did better in recent war than most think.
The sheik added: "And we would also not have hidden our military equipment amongst civilians if we had known that meant death for some of them. Our intentions were noble."
Sounds like the words of someone that had his butt whipped.
I rather think the Lebanese mourned their dead enough by now and the rage leaves them, so they start to realize who they have to blame for this. This is probably an attempt to avoid the well-deserved butt whipping.
We did not think...
Well maybe that's their problem in general!
Also, now Nasrallah is on the permanently on the IDF targetted assasination list.
He miscalculated ... a common affliction with political leadership in that part of the world.
He's "saying" they might kidnap foreign journalists, but no more Israeli soldiers -- unless they want a war... His statement gives the win to Israel.
What did Nasal'allah think was going to happen? A party?
Maybe Nasrallah saw Olmert's sinking poll numbers. Figures Olmert wants Round 2 to bolster his sagging fortunes in Israeli politics.
So he's saying that he didnt like the results.
Common sense says that if you don't like the results of your actions, you'll stop doing that (although common sense rarely applies to Islamophiles)
All in all, it sounds like Israels response yield the exact result that Israel intended. Good for them.
Pres. Almanadihajad of Iran is not going to want to hear this kind of talk. First Nasrallah soaks up all the PR from the media, now he talks like a looser. Iran may have to pay Nasrallah a visit.
