August 27, 2006 -- If there were any doubt that a federal judge's decision earlier this month declaring the Bush administration's warrantless-surveillance program unconstitutional was blatantly political, consider this:
Judicial Watch reports that the judge, Anna Diggs Taylor, is an officer and trustee of a group that funds the American Civil Liberties Union's Michigan branch - which was a plaintiff in the case.
Indeed, the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan's board of trustees, which includes Judge Taylor, makes all funding decisions for the group - and has given the local ACLU at least $125,000 since 1999.
Legal-ethics experts disagree on whether the judge (a Jimmy Carter appointee, natch) should have recused herself from hearing the case. But they concur that she should have at least disclosed the relationship.
So what was she trying to hide?

So, what can be done about this? Can the decision be reversed?
I think it will be reversed anyway, on its merits, but this would make it easier, it seems to me.
The appeals court could remand to a lower court and specify that she is no longer judge on the case. That would slap her silly and be a narrow construction of what is before them - they would avoid deciding the issue on technical grounds and kick it downstarirs for a while. In any event, eventually they will have to address the issue and it probably will end up with the Supremes.
You see, anything a liberal activist does in the course of furthering the cause, is by definition in the public interest. Therefore, there is never any need to apologize.
This judge is a crack whore for the ACLU/terrorists.

The irony of the libs is that they bend & break laws (and make new law) to their heart's content for their causes.....but this case is about how they incorrectly read a law (Bush is on solid ground)... and attempt a reversal through the judiciary.
Suppose the rest of us bend and break THEIR laws willy-nilly? Then what happens?
" Being a liberal means never having to say you're sorry. " or abiding to the rules or the law.
LOL, now I like this quote.
Everyone knows what the "Community Foundation" is, right? It's Detroit's branch of the United Way. They also fund the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Salvation Army, hospitals, etc. Judge Taylor's co-board members include the chairmen of Detroit Edison, Consumer's Power and old Detroit scions like Stroh and Hudson.
Maybe she should have recused herself, but the fact that she sits on their Board is actually a good thing that she's doing.
