You are so right, R...great news.

I saw a bit of a footage of them after released and they seemed pretty shaken, of course.

I want to hear what they have to say after they get away from Israel.

Then Peter should have been condemned for ETERNITY, because he denied Jesus 3 times, when Jesus needed his friends the most!!

The difference is that if there are American Christians as you describe, they aren't itching to kill them.

Bet you knew that.

Well, I don't know and it's not my place to state if either of the two men are practicing Christians or not. I know journalists who run the gamut from fundamentalist Christians to atheists.

During a discussion we had at Church a few months back, we discussed how lying is a sin, however is it ever permissible to lie.

Priests during WWII used to hide Jews in the Church and in their monasteries. When the Nazi's would come and ask them specifically if they were hiding Jews, the priests would lie and say no. Well, lying is a sin, but is it more of a sin to not have lied and allowed the Nazi's to take the Jews to what would most likely have been their deaths?

I've heard neither Centanni or Olaf state that their conversion was true in anyway. In fact, Centanni was very descriptive in explaining how they were under the gun for most of their imprisonment and forced to make the video's.

Muslims can believe it's a true conversion all they want. It won't be the first time they twist the truth to suit their own needs.

THIS IS MY hastily typed Transcript of Steve Centani “Allah” Video. As I watched it, I could see that it had been heavily edited, the camera position jumps several times. I appears Steve had to repeat, re-read several sections until his captors were satisfied. It is very forced and stilted reading.

"My name is Steve, I am an American. After I entered Islam, I changed my name to Khaled.
I have embraced Islam and say the word Allah. The leader is the Prophet Mohammed. Peace be upon him.

Islam is not meant just for some people but , it is the true religion for all people in all times.
Westerners are following the wrong path and I hope they realize that uh, I hope they realize that and change their ways, I hope I can help them to do that, Insha allah.

Islam helps people to love mercy, brotherhood, equality and justice.
There is no justification for invading Afghanistan and bringing death, injury and suffering to innocent men, women and children.

There is no justice when USA invades Iraq and again, leaving death, injury and suffering in its wake,
the suffering of innocent men, women and children.

Allah knows and sees all of these injustices and according to the Koran, disbelivers will be cast into an eternal fire. But Allah also is ever merciful and the West can change its ways and turn to the purifying power of Islam. The Muslims are good people and have allah in their hearts. And, it’s an offense against Islam and against Allah when muslim people are imprisoned in Abu Ghraib and tortured in their. Islam forbids torture even of non-muslims. Muslim people belive in peace and they love brotherhood.

I have a message for President Bush as well. Islam is not fascism. Words like that only serve to deepen the great chasm between peoples, to fan the flames of anger and distrust that already burn in the Muslim world.

The West is seen as waging war on Islam, and these words, “Islamic fascists” only reconfirm that belief among many. Please President Bush, please Tony Blair, open your minds to Islam and bring peace to all people around the world.

The tape continues with Olaf Wiig…with the same kind of propaganda they were forced to read."

On the other hand, if every early Christian who's life was in danger for their beliefs (which was all until the roman empire accepted Christianity) had gone to their deaths instead of staying hidden, praying in private, not outwardly expressing their belief etc - we wouldn't be here today praising Jesus.

Uh, actually, MANY early Christians DID go to their deaths for their beliefs rather than hide. Likely if they hadn't done THAT, the beliefs wouldn't have survived, as their martyrdom left quite an impression on others.

In fact, many early Christians TRIED to get themselves killed, to be with their Lord rather than jealously cling to this world. It's my understanding that to this day, you can see the carvings where early Christians jumped from cliffs.

(Of course, after several centuries of this original state of affairs, it WAS difficult to "keep the pews (and church coffers) full," so they banned suicide*...but it's important to remember that this ban went against the early church practice....Remember the saints who'd committed suicide....a relevant example would be St. Pelagia of Antioch, who killed herself to evade being captured by soldiers....or Vibia Pertpetua, who refused to recant her faith even while facing death in the arena.)

*Also relevant is the context of this ban....it was done against the wish of church conservatives, who were opposed to collaborator Bishops being allowed to continue to give communion, etc. (Council of Braga, c. 561).

Why do you persist in posting inanities?

My point was that you can't assume that just because someone uses the word "God" that he means the same God that I worship. I said nothing about Centanni meaning "Allah."

AFAIK, Centanni and Wiig's religiosity is unknown. That really isn't the point. They could have been very religious, lukewarm, or atheist. However, they did state a conversion to Islam (whether it is at the point of a gun or not does not make it any the less real). The Muzzies will run with it.

Matthew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Y'shua was a bit tougher than that. He knew the stakes in life and death and didn't sugar coat it a bit.

Daniel and Mordecai come to mind, but neither bowed to idols.

I don't recall the exact story you describe. It will be interesting to read if you find it.

I can't think of a single Christian sect in the US that calls for the extermination of non-believers.

If someone knows of any, I'd be interested in hearing about them.

This is where their weakness works to our advantage... Their religeon and hopes of a young death make them finatical about Islam.... Not us. We want to survive. Although it's tough to swallow, a strong Christian or Jew can say this crap for the camera knowing full well it is a lie and in their hearts God and their families know the truth.

Forced, coerersed mouthing of words is not conversion, and any rational person knows this in the heart...instead, it is a satanic lie. Conversion occurs in the heart, and God in Heaven looketh on the heart, not on the outward appearance.

Jeff, then are you saying that the Christians who were fed to the lions in Rome should have just gone ahead and declared the Caesar of the times God just to live?

Of what value then is Martyrdom? Of what value then is Christianity?

In their eyes, the "conversion" was legit, even though it was indeed coerced. It's not a "religion of faith", it's a religion of law. These guys make the Pharisees look like Libertarians.

It might be rude to do this, but this is such an important point that I think it needed to be enlarged. It really gets to one of the big differences in mindset between Christians and Muslims (or at least Islamists), IMHO...a difference we shouldn't forget.

Found it!

It is about Naaman, whom Elisha cured of leprosy. He wants to pay Elisha for the cure, but Elisha will have none of it.

2 Kings 5:
"17 "If you will not," said Naaman, "please let me, your servant, be given as much earth as a pair of mules can carry, for your servant will never again make burnt offerings and sacrifices to any other god but the LORD. 18 But may the LORD forgive your servant for this one thing: When my master enters the temple of Rimmon to bow down and he is leaning on my arm and I bow there also—when I bow down in the temple of Rimmon, may the LORD forgive your servant for this."

19 "Go in peace," Elisha said. " (NIV)

"17And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules' burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.

18In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant, that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there, and he leaneth on my hand, and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon: when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon, the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.

19And he said unto him, Go in peace. So he departed from him a little way. " (KJV)

We are talking about vicious animal terrorists, kidnapped two of their own, threatened them, and the three stooges felt they had to humanize these terrorist and basically give them a pass. I thought the moral relativism by the news media was disgusting.

Such rantings will get you relegated to the FR Fight Club. Islam is a religion of peace that offers barbaric Christians, Jews, and kidnapped "guests" the opportunity to make their lives complete. CNN, FOX, CNBC, and legions of FRiends have told me so. This whole War on Terror would go away if every American would simply read those same words. Why must there be so many contrarians that will not convert? It is only words, and we could cross our fingers behind our back. (the preceding comment was brought to you by the word sarcasm).

Keep the stupid reporters out of war zones.

If they wind up being caught, they just make us look like fools.

Why don't the CNN people convert for us, too?

That is true. It also means that they can never be considered credible reporters of events in that region, or anything that touches Islam, ever again.

Perhaps to you...

The Spanish Inquisition, the Salem Witch Trials? You think that was 'normal' behavior?

Koresh? Halle Bop? Jim Jones? Shall I go on?

Your post was idiotic. Koresh was not a "Christian extremist." Hale Bopp (the Heaven's Gate Cult) was not a "Christian extremist." Jim Jones and his followers were not "Christian extremists."

They were all cults not Christians.

Get your facts straight before you post next time.

Thanks for playing.

Anytime.
