IAF chief to head 'Iranian command'
Haaretz. ^ | Sun., August 27th, 2006 | Aluf Benn

In an effort to upgrade Israel's preparedness for a possible confrontation with Iran, Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Dan Halutz has appointed Israel Air Force Commander Major General Elyezer Shkedy as the IDF's "campaign manager" against countries that do not border on Israel - primarily Iran.

The appointment was made before the war in Lebanon.

As part of his new responsibilities, Shkedy will act as "GOC Iran Command": He will oversee battle plans and manage the forces if war breaks out. According to a security source, Shkedy will be the "orchestra conductor," but will coordinate with the Mossad and Military Intelligence, and with the IDF's various operational branches. The security source noted that during the 1991 Gulf War, the IDF did not have a "campaign manager" for Iraq. Instead, the IAF, the intelligence agencies and the ground forces each operated within their own areas of responsibility and authority.

There is courage in Israel.

The problem is that Israel's courage is not shared by its current Prime Minister.

During this very crucial period Israel needs real leadership, and that's not Olmert.

I had thought that Israel was going to have an election in October. But now I understand that it will not take place until 2010 !? I do not think they have the time for their elective process to work ....America : take note!
DO NOT elect dovish liberals into office via knee-jerk reactions. In times of true war they will fail you miserably.

"arabs had 600 in Israeli prisons"

and why are these chaps in Israeli prisons?

They would be better off just to kill them and not
have to deal with the issues of incarceration.

I think there were Israeli military and political failures, but Hezbollah did not expect Israel to continue an air attack beyond three days. The other side of the story is that the IAF destroyed 7,000 targets and the IDF fired over 100,000 rounds of artillery. Hezbollah doesn't seem too eager to break the ceasefire so that's telling me something. The MSM isn't telling us the whole story about exactly what Israel did do militarily. I think Hezbollah suffered much more than they expected. It has been reported that the IAF's performance was almost flawless.

Or, if it is, he's forgotten it. He's put it somewhere, and can't remember where. Probably next to his damn car keys, eh?

He better find it fast. With a heavy water plant unveiled, the nuclear doomsday possibility clock is ticking.

We have been there with Carter and Clinton, enough is enough.

In terms of Israeli elections. If Olmert can't hold his Coalition government together elections will be called.

Who was that putz viciously attacking Israel, the one whose post was pulled?

"I think Hezbollah suffered much more than they expected."

I firmly believe that. The IDF troops in Lebanon were real heroes, which lacked proper leadership from the top (Olmert).

I agree. When the Israeli troops were allowed to engage in open warfare (about the last two days before the ceasefire), they kicked serious terrorist tail.

I was flipping through the channels the other day and saw a program on MSNBC about the Lebanese War and one of the hosts was ranting about how inept the Israeli troops were, pointing to the casualties suffered when they stormed some of the terrorist strongholds. The retired US brigadier general (I've forgotten his name) tore into her, telling her that the Israelis acted with skill and determination, fighting an enemy that has spent years preparing their fortifications and is armed with some of the finest weapons money can buy. At this point they went to a commercial and when they came back, the general was gone.

I hope you're correct...very good news if true.

What you said is so true.

"...fighting an enemy that has spent years preparing their fortifications and is armed with some of the finest weapons money can buy."

From Iranian to Russian weapons. Iran's proxy Shi'ite terrorist horde in Lebanon is also part of the Lebanese government so when Lebanon's President Emile Lahoud screams and yells about Israel, it's funny we never hear him ranting on about Iranians and Syrians teaming up with Hizballah's killers.

Rush parodies the thin-skinned MSM behavior for those that speak the truth. He does it when he tells callers that the purpose of their call is to make the host look good ! Funny stuff.

Rachel Corey .....

How can anyone favor the arab rabble over Israel?
Look what Israel has done with the area they control , the
desert has bloomed.
If the arabs had half a brain they would embrace and celebrate the return of the original children of he land and greatly appreciate what they have done.Instead they insist on totally bogging down in their egotistical and fanatical devotion to the cult that they worship. You know...the 'newcomers' cult...

Yes, and in view of the threats to America, we should be an active part of destroying Iran's military and nuke producing facilitates.
