What It Feels Like... To be Constricted by a Python
Equire ^ | August 26, 2006 | Tom Kessensich,

foot amethystine python in a cage in my house. He was as big around as three or four garden hoses. One day, I stuck my hand into his cage to retrieve a rat he'd dropped, and, seeing movement near his prey, he nailed my forearm. I'm a hockey player and I consider myself fairly quick, but the strike was lightning fast. He dug in and I started bleeding. Was it painful? Well, he has about eighty needlelike teeth, and he left a U shape on my arm. So I'd say yes.

"I guess I'll never understand why folks keep a python as a "pet".

agreed, plus taking them for evening walks is like taking your garden hose for a walk.......

I know that I will probably get flamed for this, but I think anyone that keeps snakes as pets are disturbed and creepy.

Flame away!

So... next time maybe a little Lab puppy or a Golden Retriever?

I'd say this might be a good idea because this snake apparently doesn't care for rats.

I had a 12 foot Burmese years ago. I fed it a rabbit every week or so. It once ate a ten-pounder (it had a broken leg and the breeder had to destroy it...I figured ...what the heck - let's see how big it can handle.

Never had any problems with it. We used it onstage in our rock band.

I heard about a couple who had a constrictor as a pet, and one night, while checking on their infant, they found to their horror, their infant in the coils of a snake being eaten.

I was haunted by that image for the longest time.

Snakes should not be pets.

No flames from me. I agree. My husband's roommmate had one when we first started dating. Whenever I was at their apartment, I always had an eye on its cage.

I'm being swallowed by a boa constrictor
I'm being swallowed by a boa constrictor
I'm being swallowed by a boa constrictor
And I don't like it very much.

Oh no, oh no, he swallowed my toe, he swallowed my toe.

Oh gee, oh gee, he's up to my knee, he's up to my knee.

Oh fiddle, oh fiddle, he's reached my middle, he's reached my middle.

Oh heck, oh heck, he's up to my neck, he's up to my neck.

Oh dread, oh dread, he's swallowed my [gulp].

The things you learn when you have kids, and there's a guy named Raffi.

Sounds like the other way around. The snake caught your brother. By the way, he can't just vacation at Disney World where everything is normal? LOL!

"They spew vile smelling musk."It also tends to linger for a looong time."

That reminds me. Did Cindy Sheehan ever get out of the gyno hospital and return to her "spread" in Texas?
