WASHINGTON -- Democrat Bob Casey maintained a slight lead over Republican Sen. Rick Santorum in Pennsylvania, but more voters say they have a poor opinion of the challenger, according to an independent poll released Thursday.
In a three-way contest, the new Keystone Poll found Casey leading Santorum 44 percent to 39 percent among registered voters. Green Party candidate Carl Romanelli had 4 percent. Thirteen percent were undecided in the poll, which was conducted by Franklin & Marshall College between Aug. 16-21.
In May, before Romanelli entered the race, the same pollster had Casey with a six-point lead over Santorum, the No. 3 Senate Republican.
In the Pennsylvania's governor's race, the latest poll detected an apparent widening in Democratic incumbent Ed Rendell's already huge lead over Republican challenger Lynn Swann. It showed Rendell leading Swann 53 percent to 34 percent, compared to a May poll that had him leading 49 percent to 34 percent.

This is gonna be a tight race. I bet Santorum pulls it off.
Wouldnt it be funny if we ran the tabel and held every senate seat and kept the house?
I will tell you this, if we lose the house, get ready for impeachment hearings. They wont just impeach bush either. If Democrats get control of the house and senate, expect Bush and Cheney to be impeached in short succession- putting Nancy Pelosi in office and essentially pulling off a coupe de tat.
Relax a little. If the Dems got both houses, they still would not in their wildest wet dreams control 2/3 of the Senate, and it takes 2/3 of the Senate to remove a President. A Dem House would futz around with impeachment hearings, with Conyers leading the way, but I'm not sure that they could muster a majority. If they did, it would be a joke, and Bush, after surviving it, would come out stronger, as would the GOP.
I agree with you on all points. I keep saying that if President Bush is tried to be impeached then every President from here on out will have some sort of impeachment investigation. This will be the ultimate payback for the Clinton impeachment investigation that the dems want. I am more worried about the future Presidents than President Bush (he is strong and will do fine). I just don't want the country having to go through Presidential investigations every four years or so.
Do you live in PA? Rendell has already been running lots of ads, Swann's haven't even started yet. It will tighten up I'm sure.
...and adjusted for fraud, I think PA would easily be a red state. I wonder if Rendell's Philly machine still has more registered voters than there are citizens of eligible voting age?
Thanks for that info. Being from Texas, I wouldn't have known. I'm really hoping Swannie will beat Rendell! Wonder if he's doing alright in the $ department and has some dynamo ads to run?
This can't be true!
The media has spent many months telling us that Junior has a huge lead over Santorum! They would never have lied to us, would they?

Go figure.
I do vote in Pennsylvania. I was just refering to the poll which I know are BS a lot of times. I really hope he does tighten up to win.
Swann's ads will start when the regular NFL season starts.
Can't wait to see Swann getting free publicity whilest enjoying a Steelers and/or Eagles game.
I wondered if you lived in a different part of PA where ads were already running. I live in SW PA outside Pittsburgh.
An incumbent at 39% isn't exactly reason to party, although I won't deny having the margin narrow is encouraging. Still, Casey is easily the favorite. Also the Green Romanelli will probably be kicked off the ballot, so I wouldn't count having him to siphon off votes in November.
