Ditto.

I thank God every day that Howard dean was never my doctor.

Better he should make a fool of himself as the Dems leader than to be killing people for real.

I find that amusing that howard dean claims there are republicans who are capable and smart, last time i checked republicans are responsible for everything wrong in the world.

This wouldn't be the same "I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for" Howard Dean, would it?

Shame, that the only thing that seems to prop up our side sometimes, is the absolute incompetence of our opponents.

Looks like the voters decided that Howard did not belong in public service.

what everyone forgets about howard dean is that the scream didn't kill him, what caused him to sink was bill clinton releasing a letter from howard dean (while he was far ahead of everyone else) that showed howard dean supported his unilateral action. At this point howard dean had run around saying unilaterial action was illegal/etc. Releasing this letter is what caused howard dean to sink and loose momentum.

Didn't hear about this...and I was paying attention. I'll try to find it later. Good catch.

Let's see. Vermont-- a once great state which produced the likes of Ethan Allen and Calvin Coolidge. Now a crappy little backwater for hippies, yuppies and greenie weenies.

Don't forget same-sex marriage...the first couple of which (from that state) just got "divorced".

1) Democrats don't believe the polls that state McCain or Rudy will be the GOP nominee. This is why they are attacking Allen.

2) Some conservatives are attacking him for mainly two reasons a) They have another "horse" in the '08 race. b) They are easily offended.

Am I am Allen backer? Not really. I did say recently I thought he'd be the default choice for conservatives, Rudy would be the liberals choice, and Tancredo would be playing a spoiler role to center debate on the border. I stated Allen would win because ideas would triumph in the primary over personality and while not ideal he'd do...but only if he didn't screw himself in the campaign. Otherwise Rudy could have the power to seduce people.

Now? Who knows. It really depends on how he learns from this misstep. Not so much the word...but the excessive apology circuit. I didn't like it when Lott did it, and Allen needs to learn from this. If he does, he could become a stronger candidate for '08. If he doesn't, he might not be the default conservative pick. Romney might step in, Newt in the background or even santorum.

Actually, if Santorum wins his election I wouldn't be a bit shocked if he becomes the frontrunner for '08. He's from a Dem state, conservative on pro-life, strong on the war, favors secure borders, not too sure where he is on NRA and fiscal policy? But if he has those bases covered he could well leap frog to the front.

Anyway, Allen will recover and win re-election but the real question is whether he uses this as an object lesson in how NOT to respond to liberal traps of getting one on the defensive.

But it was okay when Dean said, looking around a room: "You think the RNC could get this many people of color into a single room? Maybe if they got the hotel staff in there."

I wrote a letter to the editor about it and added:

That's the difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats see minorities as hotel staff. Republicans see them as Cabinet members.

I thought that according to Howard Republicans are all evil white Christians who have never done a day's work in their lives.

Most people seem to forget it. Everyone seems to believe that howard dean sunk because john kerry looked electable. The dems were perfectly happy nominating dean until they realized he was a hippocrit.

I dont think santorum will run for president in '08 or have much luck. Santorum wiggles left everytime he's up for re-election, look at his acu ratings. Santorum's flip flops would likely anger conservatives.

Name them, Howie. Who are the capable, smart, thoughtful Republicans? Hmmmm.

Would somebody please ask Howie Dean why he had no "person of colour" on his staff when he was running for president? I'm sure we would get a "macaca" explanation.

The Democrats always jump up and down on the candidate they fear the most.

I heard Senator Allen speak at our convention in April 2005 and I love it the Dems are underestimating this man. He is a wonderful speaker and has a great grasp of the issues. He supports Coburn in the attempt to reign in pork. Found him conservative, intelligent, witty, and very good looking! I don't know one woman here in OK that heard him speak that day who didn't think he was the best looking candidate we had seen in OK for a long time. :)

It's looking more and more like MA Gov. Romney is the most likely choice for the Republican presidential candidate. (Not my choice, though!)
