NBC 4 reporter dies from injuries suffered in July 31 car accident Associated Press Thursday, August 24, 2006
A local television news reporter who developed an infection following a car accident died in a hospital early today, a nursing supervisor said.
Lauren Crowner, a former queen of the Indianapolis 500 Festival, had worked at WCMH-TV since January. She was 25.
She suffered from severe headaches after a car accident July 31 and then developed an infection because of swelling on her brain, her sister, Evher, said in a story on the Web site of WISH-TV in Indianapolis.
Crowner died at Mount Carmel West Hospital, said a nursing supervisor.
Before moving to Columbus, Crowner worked at WLFI-TV in Lafayette, Ind., and was an intern at WTHR-TV in Indianapolis.
She is survived by her father, mother, stepfather and sister.
Central Ohio media ping.
Prayers for her family. So young.
25 is so young. Prayers for her and her family.
Hospitals are full of infections.
Hospitals are dangerous places if you have any kind of open wound.
A lot of people die from infections in hospitals, many of them from infections they got in that hospital.
And this is news why ????.
And this is news why ????.
you're a schmuck
Since you're from Wisconsin, perhaps you have no interest in this story. But the hundreds of Central Ohio Freepers might. So why don't you get lost?
My wife was in the same hospital last month. The infection thing is something I always worry about.
Lovely young lady. May she rest in peace. Prayers for her family.
I would guess that you most likely would find one if not more WWII vets that died in the last couple of weeks that didn't have more then a single column in the local paper.
Then this TV person who's only claim to fame is getting her face on TV is national news. Yea right.
I'll bet no one will miss you when you are gone.
Which reminds me. A couple of months ago I had to get some lab work done. In the waiting area was a woman with open, oozy sores on her arms. I don't know what on earth they were, but the really icky part was that she was wearing a sleeveless top and using the arm rests. Maybe whatever it was wasn't contagious, but it sure looked bad. People ought to have the sense not to carelessly spread bodily fluids around.
Scary. You just never know what was deposited on your seat before you got there. I typically wear a sweater in those places anyway, because the a/c is usually cranked up high. Until that day, I didn't realize that a sweater could really pull some heavy duty doubling as an infection barrier.
Doctors offices are as bad as Hospitals.
Imagine yourself at a doctors office for routine physical. perfectly healthy, sitting next to someone with th flu, coughing and blowing flu germs all over the place. You got it , you come home with the flu. Imagine waiting there half an hour or more. My advice is wear some sort of mask when you go in.
People constantly ask me why I took such chances doing the career I was in for 12 years, (forensics). I always tell them, I have less chance of getting infected from investigating a corpse then from going to the hospital or dcotors office.
Though I never saw this woman, prayers for her family and loved ones. 25 is much to young to lose ones life.
