I build my own computers. I am my own tech support. I get the best support whenever I need it.
Apple who? Dell who?
Just make sure you know exactly what the problem is, what needs replacement and why. Then answer "I've done that already" to every suggestion by the tech support robots (preferably by e-mail, so you won't spend hours on hold, and then have to speak to someone whose accent makes them barely understandable), and tell them to send you the part you need and you'll install it yourself.
It's called do-it-yourself tech support. It works.
