I post this only to demonstrate how quickly the worm turns -- t his report gives Seper and the Washington Times a lot of credit for building up the idea of the Minutemen and MCDC -- so contrast that with the way certain people have turned on that same writer and paper once he wrote a few stories that raised questions about their practices and claims.
I think this adds some fuel to the fire.

ACLU volunteers closely monitored the group.
Are we sure they could count?

The word "illegal" appears nowhere in this propoganda.

"The ACLU report shows how newspaper reporting that was either lazy or deliberately misleading helped transform a relatively small band of extremists into the armed vanguard of the anti-immigration movement."
How it should read:
The ACLU report shows how newspaper reporting -- that was either lazy or deliberately misleading -- helped transform a relatively small band of PATRIOTS into the armed vanguard of the anti-ILLEGAL-Immigration movement."

The ACLU has been highly critical of the Minutemen, and ACLU volunteers closely monitored the group. Now, there are the real vigilantes!
Armed to the teeth with loaded writs; and firing off full-auto subpoenas, and indiscriminately tossing armed injunctions at anything that moves!

So now you've been reduced to posting an article from the freakin' Southern Poverty Law Center citing a study by the ACLU. And you wonder why freepers think you're a leftist.

If an organization has 1,000 volunteers, that doesn't mean all 1,000 are out on patrol or even ON SCENE at any given moment in time.
This dufus writer (article) implies that just because all Minuteman volunteers weren't in a tight little group chasing illegals while holding hands, then there was something amiss.

I don't understand all the criticism of your post. To me, it seems to be explaining the transformation of Seper from an MM supporter to critic. It appears the MM press representative (Hair?) had been feeding Seper BS about the numbers showing up at events. When Seper found out he was being lied to, he took a more critical stance. What's the big mystery?
The articles criticism between the numbers of reported sign ups and those at events misses it's mark. As another poster pointed out, not all who sign up will show up on any given day.
For those challenging PDR on this, how about posting some photos showing the numbers of attending volunteers that refute this articles assertions? Otherwise, your knee jerk blasts at PDR for posting this article are vapid.
BTW - Past criticism of the MM had nothing to do with volunteer numbers, but about the lack of accountability and the lack of a promised fence. Those points still stand.

There's stooping too low for dubious purpose, and then there's reaching into hell for support from Satan.
This is one instance where the term "guilt by association" actually applies.
