I'm seriously thinking that I now have psychic powers. From the very beginning I had the storng feeling that the name "Mohammed" was going to play an important role in this incident. Don't know why, it was just a feeling.

is unconstitutional! In retrospect, it's
pretty easy to spot some of the earliest
signs of the inroads Islam was making in
our country. It became fashionable for
people like Cassius Clay, Malcolm Little,
and Louis E. Walcott to join the NOI and
adopt Muslim names as part of their initiation.
I taught high school here in the midwest from
the early '60's, and gradually began seeing
some of my students of the previous year returning
after summer break with new names! I asked and
was told, "Like the kids making Confirmation, I
was told to select a new name." Some kids used
the new name all the time, others only used it
on certain occasions. By the time I retired in
'92, I noticed I had a few White kids with Muslim
names! That was a real eye-opener, especially to
a Christian teacher who took religious education
for his own kids as a serious parental obligation.
I found most of the kids had never attended
Sunday School or Mass, and had no religious
training at all. Of course, others joined the
new trend for the usual reason: peer pressure.
If we're truly going to confront this ideology,
we need to at least make the effort to understand
it, realizing there are quite a few different
factions within the groups. For those who would
