Apparently it's not just me. When my Norwegian friend and I were shopping at Sam's Club, she asked what I would do w/the baked beans. All I could think of was, "Dump them out of the can and put them in the microwave?" Curious about American habits, she asked if I would put beans on toast (she spent some time in England) and I almost threw up.

I thought maybe I was a bit sensitive and did an unscientific poll of a few other Americans, asking if they would eat beans on toast. They all had the same reaction, basically, 'WTF would make you do something like that?'

I have to admit that I've never eaten baked beans on toast, and the first 17+ times (till now) that I heard of it, I always thought, Why would you need to put baked beans on toast? They taste so good by themselves ... but the recipe does seem to have quite a following. No accounting for taste = proven all over again, every day.
