The Mayonnaise I know is Hellman's which to me is very thick and glupy whereas salad cream is like thick ketchup and you can drizzle it over the salad ingredients rather than putting a dolup on.

I see your point -- American mayo, all that I have tried, is thick, but that's why I love it. For green salads, I want a dressing that pours.
