There are many stupid laws on the books in many states. For instance, in North Dakota it is still legal to shoot Native Americans provided you circle the wagons before hand. This is an example of an extremely stupid law; one that should go unheeded.
Your example is the case of an antiquated law that has fallen into desuetude. That is not the case here, apparently.
If you are embarrased by the "circle the wagons" law, call up your legislator and ask him/her to get it removed.
You don't have the right to unilaterally decide which laws are "stupid" and therefore don't apply to you personally, and neither does this teacher. If you don't like it, too bad. That's the price of living in a republic governed by laws.

Last time I looked, no one was trying to shoot Native Americans in North Dakota; nor does this law REQUIRE they be shoot.
However, by requiring those who are attempting to shoot Native Americans to circle their wagons first, it gives the intended victims time to flea, and also gives law enforcement more time to arrive and stop (Since N.A.'s are supposedly legal to shoot, it is not attempted murder.) a nasty disturbance of the peace, and possible reckless endangerment of non- Native American bystanders.
