I'm sorry to read this, but these types of organizations have a shelf life. And Roberta Combs is past her expiration date.

I tend to agree. I hope something surfaces to replace the coalition. The Republican party needs a values based organization to influence it.

Volunteer political organizations come and go. This is part of the normal political scheme of things. The Christian Coalition began losing a lot of its clout quite a few years ago.

The sentiment is still there. It's just going to take a new leader or a new movement to rally a new crop of activists together, and that one too will one day fade.

The story mentioned Roberta Combs involvement with supporting the tax increase in Alabama that Republican Governor Bob Riley pushed.

That's a big problem with the Christian Coalition and other morality based groups.

They are too tied into established politicians and their agendas no matter how bad they are including corruption and tax increases, among other things.

There needs to be independence from the powers that be and an ability to hold them accountable.

Its like the politicians-lobbyists buy off Christian Coalition type groups etc. with money from their sources (the Reed-Abramaoff-Indian gambling connection) to push an agenda favorable to politicians and lobbyists, not the people.

This buying off applies to other groups not neccessarily linked to moral issues.

Here in a Pennsylvania a "taxpayers group" was funded through a PAC by liberal RINO incumbents in the legislature. They wanted to save their skin in primary elections after they voted themselves a payraise.

You can thank people like Ralph Reed who got in bed with Jack Abramhoff.

I'm glad to hear this. Time to put together a new organization under a new name.
