Rush just announced at the end of today's show that Mark Steyn would guest host his show tomorrow.
Please tell me how you know if you have set it up correctly. I spent the bucks, now I want that show!
I put it on recording audio rather than downloading. Is this right? We just want to listen to it at a later time online, not put it on an Ipod. Also, do I need to keep the program up on the screen in order for it to record? When I try to click the X it says I will lose my recording ability. Yes, I am blonde, why do you ask? LOL.
In fact, I'm so looking forward to it that I signed up for Rush 24/7 monthly tonight in anticipation. I don't want to take a chance on missing a minute of it and I will be in and out tomorrow so I'm sure I won't hear his entire show.
Can anyone tell me how the podcast is? Do you like it? How many megs does it take for a 3 hour show?
MKM
I set it so it splits the show into 30 minute segments. I copy them onto my mp3 player and then go jogging. The only downside is that I'll hear something that I want to respond to, and then I remember, the show was over 3 hours ago. The upside is that I fast forward through all the commercials, just like with Tivo.
If you make a mistake, freepmail me, and I'll see if I can make you a CD of the show. Don't tell the MPAA. Shhhhh.
Sorry, to answer your specific questions, you set it to record audio. And the program needs to be running to work. It can be set to automatically run at start up (which mine does) or you can start the program when you have a show you want to record, and then keep the program open. It doesn't have to be on the screen per se, I think it has a setting to minimize in the task bar, and then it opens up a screen when the show starts.
Oh wow, that should be interesting.
People will love his semi-Brit accent.
@@@@@
Some Brit accents are grating to the ears. His is so charming, I do love to listen to him speak.
Thank you - hope it works. I drool over Steyn's writing and have never heard him on radio before. I will let you know.
"..Be gentle?!..."
Yeah..."First time"..."Be gentle"...
You know....Humour?... :-)
BTT
B there or b square!
Rush's fill-ins are unlistenable. Steyn might be the exception, then again, Steyn's brilliance is his WRITING. Listening to Steyn try to host a radio show might be a bit like watching Tiger Woods play tennis. Not really his strong suit.
I agree with you that Tony Snow was the best fill-in. He's the only one I'd even bother to listen to. The rest are unlistenable, including Walter Wiliams.
Mark Steyn behind the Golden Microphone of the EIB? That's almost worth taking the afternoon off for!
I dunno... I have heard Steyn on Hugh Hewitt's show (he is a regular Thursday guest) and he talks just like he writes.
Sorry.

From his interviews on TV and radio that I've heard he may translate well into this format.
On C-Span.
On a National Review cruise.
I'm going to bump this once or twice up till game time...
Bump.
Steyn is great on C-Span and on Hugh Hewitt. I know hosting is different than just answering questions, but he should be great.
I think he may be getting ready to pack it in. Just a feeling.
I agree with you, my FRiend. In fact, I have been thinking along those lines for 3 years. Mark Styne just may become El Rushbo's heir apparent, if he gets good reviews from the listeners today.
Well, he's coming right up....
