RUSH LIMBAUGH LIVE THREAD, WEDNESDAY August 23, 2006

SOME WEDNESDAY SPIN! Most in US see no tie between Iraq, terror war: poll Tue Aug 22, 10:29 PM ET A majority of Americans no longer see a link between the war in Iraq and Washington's broader anti-terrorism efforts despite President George W. Bush's insistence the two are intertwined, according to a New York Times/CBS News poll released on Tuesday. Fifty-one percent of those surveyed said the war in Iraq was separate from the U.S. government's war on terrorism. The findings were a considerable shift from polls taken in 2002 and early 2003, when a majority considered the two to be linked, The New York Times said. As recently as June, opinion was evenly split, with 41 percent on both sides of the divide. Now only 32 percent considered Iraq to be a major part of the fight against terrorism, the newspaper said. According to the poll, 46 percent said the Bush administration had concentrated too heavily on Iraq and not enough on terrorists elsewhere. Fifty-three percent said going to war in the first place was a mistake, up from 48 percent in July, The New York Times said. Bush's approval ratings remained unchanged at 36 percent. His popularity has been damaged by the unpopular war in Iraq, in which the U.S. military death toll is 2,610. As recently as Monday, Bush defended the invasion of Iraq as crucial to preventing more domestic terror attacks. "If you believe that the job of the federal government is to secure this country, it's really important for you to understand that success in Iraq is part of securing the country," Bush said during a news conference. The unpopularity of the Iraq war has many Republicans nervous about the party's chances in the November midterm elections in which Democrats are seeking to retake control of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. The Times/CBS News poll of 1,206 adults was conducted Thursday through Monday and had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

During the top of the hour WABC made sure it was a grim three minutes. The housing market is boomed. Katrina is Bush's fault; they are still waiting for FEMA Trailers. I hope no one is holding their breath!

I didn't see a tax cut until Bush. As a matter of fact, in my working life, the only tax cuts I saw were from Ford, Reagan and Bush.

Conservatives did that? Funny. It's been obvious to me for years that liberals are the reason liberals are perceived like that. What they say, how they act, what they support, what the oppose, and how they present themselves in all areas of their life. Liberals made themselves that way. Not us.

We "Lounge Lizards" sure have fun over there, don't we? Except when a couple of thread bashers crash the party.

Levin threads can get out of control. I had to jump off half way through.

The estrogen levels exceeded capacity.

I remember awhile back (I think in FL) a black applicant for the police force sued the city because he said the police test required swimming and blacks are at a disadvantage because they, as a race, couldn't swim.

Never did hear the outcome but I wish Rush's crack research staff could find the details.

I feel the same as you...but, every once in a while the word "perspective" needs to be used...to put these opportunists, like the dems in their place..

John McCain should KNOW BETTER than to say what he is saying about the war, which makes him MORE guilty of "using" our troops and their deaths as campaign points.

But, of course the Chris Matthews' of the world say stuff every night..that needs some perspective.

Of course, I would rather NO American military people die in war...all of us on FR feel that way..but, also think of the almost 45,000 families that had to grieve over the death of at least one loved on last year, due to a traffic accident..

I'm not one for the tin-foil hats myself, but twice during Rush in a week? If it happens a third time during Rush in the next few weeks, it's libs.
