I thought, "How pathetic have we become when some well-off lady in her 60's doesn't like her own country?"

It's kinda scary.

2006-40=1966. She was in her prime as a flower child.

"[Presidio] took a truth (the article)..."

I stopped there in her letter to the Argus. Talk about hubris.

It is a little bizarre that liberals are monitoring this site and fact-checking.

Why does the world hate America?

Because we EXPORT AntiAmericanism as an industry unto itself. NOTE ALL THE RED WHITE AND BLUE on the foreign editions (sourced from Amazon.coms around the world)

First the American editions...

And here's what the rest of the world saw...

(the German edition of "Downsize This" has the miserable failure pictured holding a bundle of dynamite with a lit fuse, such the bomb throwing anarchist...)

(TV Nation became "Hurrah Amerika!" in Germany, I guess)

(The Awful Truth became "The America of Michael Moore" in France)

Sure does pose with the flag a lot for a fat bastard who hates this country that has made him filthy rich.

gee, I wonder who the G8 are and who the leader of the pack is?

They can say arrogance, but I do not think its anger that moves them.... its only translated jealousy. Each of these underdeveloped backwater third world nations wishes they had what America has figured out and delivered. Employment! Education! Democracy! Technology!Freedom! (Electricity, Phones, Running water, flush toilets and charmin!)

7th century Islam has yet to deliver any of these social goods to half of the world. It ould be nice if they had the nuts to recognize their failures and take responsibility as opposed to playing the blame game.

But still why would they want to point out the obvious...
We all know its Bushs fault!

much of his program is focused on highlighting such antiAmerican leftists

Medved's gimmick consists of inviting the most outrageous, shrieking moonbats as guests on his program. Then he pokes them with sticks to see how far he can provoke them without losing his own composure.

It has reached the point that if he has on a normal person as a guest, his program is boring.

It is for that reason that more than half of the threads I post here are things that I don't agree with. Makes for more interesting responses.

Well the people he brings on ARE in the news and are typically employed in offices of government or higher schools of learning (public and private).

If these were just some crackpots on the corner, there would be no reason to have them on except as callers.

From the letter of complaint:

You'll note presidio9 added "(eating better may reduce the methane released into atmosphere)" to my title without attributing his/her editing to her/himself ... and it's an edit that had nothing to do with my topic!

From the original article:

Green diets vs. global warming (eating better may reduce the methane released into atmosphere) (FR Headline)

According to a news short titled It's better to green your diet than your car found at the New Scientist web site the two professors "compared the amount of fossil fuel needed to cultivate and process various foods, including running agricultural machinery, providing food for livestock and irrigating crops". They also counted methane and nitrous oxide produced by cows, sheep and manure handling. (Note: in the print edition of New Scientist, Dec 17-23 edition, the article is titled "Green your diet before your car".)

The seediest exploitation films that played 42nd street in the 1970s and drive-ins out in the sticks came from Europe and Asia.

And they stayed off of American home video until the advent of DVD (previously the uncut versions circulated on bootlegs transfered from European and Asian laserdisc and VHS releases).

The culture of cinema is seedy around the world (except maybe in India where the actor/actress are not even permitted to kiss on screen).

We were are war with Saddam in 1991. We came to a "negotiated peace" where he agreed to restrictions on weapons and inspections.

He didn't permit the inspections and clearly sought to acquire prohibited weapons whether or not he succeeded in getting the arsenal he wanted.

In short, Saddam "violated the peace" by violating the agreements and "violated the terms of his parole".

Or, we could drill our own oil and make our own stuff.

Can I vote for this one?

"American Pie" was a low brow comedy. And Thailand? They are shocked by the site of 2 men kissing there? I thought that was a significant portion of the tourist trade (not to impune your reasons for being there, saying it should not be a shock to them considering all that is around them).

I thought, "How pathetic have we become when some well-off lady in her 60's doesn't like her own country?"

In a way, I have to agree with her. The US spends way too much time and taxpayer money telling other countries (either on its own or through the UN) how to take care of business, or protecting one country from another.

I don't like the idea of some countries having certain weapons, but its not our place to tell them they can't.

The Constitution does not provide for that kind of authority.

If they told us WE couldn't have them, what would the reaction be?

However there is a great deal of hatred for America. I attribute it to jealousy, ignorance, shame and laziness. Jealousy at the prosperity of America. Ignorance due to a constant flood of anti Americanism from the worlds media. Shame from governments that need to direct attention away from their own failures. And finally laziness because America is the easiest target.

In America you can be what you want to be (for better or worse).

No guild to join to take up a craft. You don't have to be born into the industry.

Parents don't arrange marriages.

Royal titles mean nothing. The media "tries" to create American royalty but we dismissed this notion long ago.

People changed their names when they moved here and continue to change their names as they strike out with their own identity.

You are limited by your (lack) of ambition in this country.

Nothing comes easy but there was the environment for the inventors to thrive in this country.

But even the locals aren't learning this in school or from their parents. Now we expect government to provide for us from the womb to the tomb. Give me a handout every week to get me to the next week.

In that case, thank goodness this young lady is abandoning Bollywood so we can end that nonsense.
