Only one commercial can top the sheer hatred our readers have for the winner of this year's worst-commercial contest. Yes, only creepy, toenail-snapping Digger the Dermatophyte is more hated than the horrendous repetition that is this year's winning loser, the HeadOn headache remedy commercial.
In case you haven't seen it (you can find it on YouTube, but really, why would you want to?), the commercial is as insanely simple as it is annoying. A female voice repeats "HeadOn: Apply directly to the forehead!" three times as a blissed-out smug woman rolls what appears to be a Bonne Bell LipSmacker on her head.
What in the name of a glue stick in disguise is going on there? First off, does anyone believe that this works any better than, say, rubbing your head with your hand? Who decided that a commercial where only the product name and tagline are repeated over and over was good advertising? What kind of drugs is the model in the ad actually on? And does anyone know anyone who has ever, ever used this product, or seen it for sale anywhere outside these ads?

And they always sound like blithering idiots who are too stupid to come in out of the rain.
How about the one for some pain remedy and the woman who now shows how she can turn her arm without any pain which she couldn't before. Listen to how she talks as she turns her arm...."Now I can't get that pain no matter how far I turn my arm" and her voice gets all weird as she says, "...turn my arm" and she looks like an idiot contorting her arm as she says it.
Enzyte is by far the worst.
You and I seem to be a minority of two on Little Richard.
Yeah, they're good. So are Hummer commercials. Loved the Happy Jack Hummer ad.
That was Enzyte, I think. Their ads are really dumb.
Notwithstanding, I am honored to be not one who considers the accents "popular".....
The Sonic commericals always make me laugh, but my husband hates them..
Most favorite is the "FedEX" commercial with the CEO taking the credit..LOL.

I think the man who owns Progressive gave the ACLU something like 8 million dollars. THAT turned ME off.
Yeah, I sorta knew that - didn't know the details but knew that they weren't called "progressive" just because that name wasn't taken - in David Horowitz' book "Radical Son" - he was a Red Diaper baby who was taught by his parents to say that they were "progressive" instead of what they really were which was communist.
Thrown in just in case you decide to throw a couple down with a few beers and head out in the Porche...
To eliminate most of the frustrations of repetitive commercials why not buy TiVo or get a satellite DVR?
We've had on for years and very rarely have to suffer through commercials. Just pause live events, do something else for a few minutes, then come back and fast forward the irritating interruptions.
OMG i love that commercial~! i wasn't sure if it was local or not, but i adore that big scottish freak!
The best kinds of ads appeal to people who do not even use the product. The Malibu and Red Stripe ads are very well done.
Hehe!
Since we've had TiVo, our commercial-viewing has become less frequent.
I do like the Geico ad with Don LaFontaine (the movie trailer guy).
They are awful. I also hate the Daimler/Chrysler ads. "Vee're ein Cherman car!" It creeps me out every time I hear it.
"My daughter definitely knows more about the computer than me."
I hope the daughter has better grammar, too. I hate commercials, news commentators, etc. using improper grammar.....i.e., "he's done." No, meat is done. People are finished, complete or through. JEEZ--drives me up a wall.
Cat Herders! My all time favorite!
Other honorable mentions:
1. Budweiser "Christmas Card" commercial (horse drawn sled). Very festive.
2. Gap Khakis "Swing". Just fun
3. Geiko "Small House" spoof. Funny
4. McDonald's kids in raincoats "Quack Quack waddle waddle". Very cute.
Thanks for the info.
Yes there are!
