Only one commercial can top the sheer hatred our readers have for the winner of this year's worst-commercial contest. Yes, only creepy, toenail-snapping Digger the Dermatophyte is more hated than the horrendous repetition that is this year's winning loser, the HeadOn headache remedy commercial.
In case you haven't seen it (you can find it on YouTube, but really, why would you want to?), the commercial is as insanely simple as it is annoying. A female voice repeats "HeadOn: Apply directly to the forehead!" three times as a blissed-out smug woman rolls what appears to be a Bonne Bell LipSmacker on her head.
What in the name of a glue stick in disguise is going on there? First off, does anyone believe that this works any better than, say, rubbing your head with your hand? Who decided that a commercial where only the product name and tagline are repeated over and over was good advertising? What kind of drugs is the model in the ad actually on? And does anyone know anyone who has ever, ever used this product, or seen it for sale anywhere outside these ads?

Yarg... Every time I saw that I recalled Stimpy's "nose gremlin" collection episode...
But that would be weird if the people weren't going nuts in an accident/emergency:
"Hello OnStar? Hi, we've just had a huge pile up at I-95 and all the cars are burning, people are screaming and there's blood everywhere. Huh? Oh, I'm ok. Just can't find my arm though. And my left leg is just a teensy numb..."
I am glad that you too like the back to school commercials...
I agree, I hate all the ED commercials...
HUMMER ads are entertaining. The best was the soapbox derby kid and the one with the three bears is funny.
Isn't it funny...I love the new Geico commercials...the ones with the celebrities interpreting what the ordinary people are saying. They're fun.
You are being far too generous. Their commercials are whacked out and irritating. I wouldn't be surprised if in their next new commercial, that damn lizzard, Charro or Little Richard is in front of a chalk board running their nails down it.
Wonder how many products they're sellin.
I will say, I like the Geico commercials with Little Richard...I just suppose I get a kick out of him...hes always so wild...
Your flashing graphic, the visual counterpart of the HeadOn commercial, almost gave me a seizure. Thank goodness for Adblock!
OMG! Those people are the hugest posers ever! They could't be faker if John Fraud Quaeda got in and said "Iwonthreepurpleheartsinvietnam. Vietnam."
I hate that ad. I always hope one of the people outside would come back with a snappy remark that would place those b@stards in their place. Second only to the HeadOff one.
lol
Matthew Lesko. Patron Saint of Parasites. Everytime I hear him shouting about how the "GOVERNMENT HAS 350 BILLION DOLLARS TO GIVE AWAY!!! It makes me want to get a bucket of warm roofing tar and a sack of feathers and travel to DC...
That is a GREAT ad...WOW!! I have saved the clip in my favorites folder.
The creepiest is the Burger King commerical with the 'King.' The 'King' makes me almost afraid to pull around to the BK drive thru window...He is an eeeevil resinoid stalker...and he has spawned 'Quaker Oat Man.' 'Oat Man' stands around offices and (shudder!!!) school crossing zones with trays of goodies. How wierd/lame can an ad be...is it the same ad agency? I mean who thinks having an inanimate statuey-creepy guy show up in odd locals makes a consumer want to purchase their food.
A bit fuzzy right now, which one is that?
I know the "melon" and "total gridlock".
I can't stand the German-car Dr. Z, but the real Dr. Z, Paul Zimmerman who writes for SI, is an excellent writer and columnist, even if you don't like pro football.
My favorite commercial is the Meow Mix one..the one with a bleacherful of cats going meow meow meow meow...
Ok. That's funny.
You are evil.
Post a Helen Thomas pic right now and you will have a good chance at Hillary's throne. :)
