A Day in the Life of President Bush - (photos) - 8.22.06

After calling President Karzai of Afghanistan to discuss security measures and a potential visit, President Bush left the White House early this afternoon to go to Minnesota. In Minnetonka, he participated in a panel discussion on health care, and also signed an Executive Order to help increase the transparency of America's health care system - empowering Americans to find better value and better care. The order will require various federal agencies to compile information about the quality and price of health care they pay for, and share that information with their customers and each other. The White House website has posted a FACT SHEET about this order.

The President also attended a fundraiser for Minnesota Congressional Candidate, State Senator Michele Bachman after the panel discussion, and stopped for a frozen custard in Wayzata.

Can't you just imagine X42 hugging those girls a little too tightly, giving his "I feel your pain" look ...

No idea! :-) I'm everything BUT Norwegian. I just remember reading about it and it really didn't sound like the kind of thing I could eat. I'm so used to hearing about lye soap that, if made too strong, would take a user's skin off!

***Mr Ohio puts relish on scalloped potatoes..........***

Well, at least he's creative. I once found a recipe for scalloped potatoes with sausages in it. It was delicious. My husband got very upset. HIs M-O-T-H-E-R never made them that way!! Sigh.

Everytime someone mentions chocolate, it makes me feel good. My oldest daughter other wise known as "she who must be obeyed" was constantly on my case about my unhealthy diet.

Day in and day out she got on my case. I should mention that she worked for me... I urge you not to listen to the others who said I worked for her.

Anyway this went on for weeks and weeks. I can't help it. I crave double quarter pounders and supersized fries.

But then one day the worm turned. She was out of the office and someone needed an order she had in her possession. So I went into her office. I opened the center drawer of her desk. No order.. but lots of chocolate. I opened the right hand drawers... No order but lots of chocolate. I opened the left hand drawers.. No order but lots of chocolates. The same for the file cabinets. There was chocolates everywhere. Hershys kisses. Hershy bars gallore. There were fancy imported chocolate bars, I had never heard of. Light chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate...every kind of chocolate.

When she got back I let her have it with both bars...er barrels.

She has not mentioned my diet since.

Actually come to think of it... the criticizm just changed subjects... from what I eat to what I wear.

Of course after her mother passed she had to double her nagging... it was her way of keeping me from missing her mom.

I hope so...but don't hold your breath. I think, since hubby has a work truck, that my daughter can use my car, and I'll use our truck, that I won't have to run around too much in the evenings. Tuesday nights will still be out for me since I teach that night Oct through May. But, I'll try real hard 'cause I miss everyone and all of the news. I feel like I've missed so much of what's going on in the world!

Even though you've been missed around here, I'm glad you've been busy with good things :)

Just stop in and say hi when you can.
