I sincerely doubt they're directly blaming Darwin. Unfortunately, Hitler did draw on Darwin to justify his eugenic views - as did many others at the time. Seems to me that if you take human beings as nothing more than common stock, eugenic views are naturally going to arise. Putting eugenics into action, as Hitler did, requires more honesty than the West is willing to admit at this time.

This is NOT a 'evangelical nutcase' idea. Darwin's ideas are responsible for Hitler is philosophically and historically consistent.

Darwin's own book title shows that without Darwin there would have never been a Hitler.

Without the philisophical ideas that man is nothing more than an intellectual animal, he is not distinst from animals in any way, AND man is so intelligent and evolved so that he should direct his future evolution Hitler would have never happened in history as we know it.

These ideas stand in antithesis to the philisophical ideas that man is created, man is created special, unique from animals, in the image of God, and the purpose in life is to glorify God and enjoy him forever.

You might want to do a little research and reading before making stupid statements. Actually Darwinism leads to all kinds of not nice ways to treat other human beings. Darwinism does not need a God and therefore does not have to have a conscience or morals. (we are all just animals in their eyes)

Hitller piggy-backed on Darwin just as thoroughly as Christian anti-semites piggy-back on replacement theology. Does Darwinism lead inexorably to Naziism? No, but it provided a marvelous accelerant for pyromaniacs like Hitler. Kennedy is making the point that the accelerant is still around, and some folks are still exploiting it..

When one states as a starting point that humankind is the result of impersonal random events, it's pretty hard to square that with "All men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights." Maybe Jefferson was right, maybe Darwin was right, but one of them has to be wrong, they outlined mutually contradictory ideas.
