This is an excerpt. Follow article link for full story.

Emphasis added by me on the last paragraph shown.

This should help shake up things in the software arena. Competition is good!

SE-Linux was an add on to Linux. Technically it is not written by the NSA. Currently SE-Linux is enabled in most distributions.

It's more than just Linux. It would cover open standards as well. Massachusetts is pushing ahead with adoption of ODF (ope document format) which will require that all office software vendors support the format - even M$.

I'm sure Bill is *issed.

I read "open source adoption" and I had visions of knowing the entire genetic code of the baby before signing the papers, and being able to tinker with it if I wanted lighter hair or a taller kid...

I think the military should stay out of the adoption debate. When a child reaches 18 or so he should be told the truth ...

=o)

Yeah--but this is his beloved DoD--where he claims to work.

He's claiming that everyone is satisfied with Windows in the AF, which this article denies.

Hmmm. I wonder who's right?

It's a little late for everyone to be able to post NB4GE. Is someone asleep?

Makes sense to me. Why would anyone want to depend on proprietary software if it is unnecessary.

No, I didn't, follow your own link. Why must you lie?

And we all know that the DoD never considers white papers to be viable considerations. I'm sure there was some white paper somewhere regarding linking computers together in some interconnected manner for sharing information, with redundancy built into the system.

That turned out to be a complete bust, huh?

While posting the article is definitely NB4GE, you get the prize for actually stating it, and being NB4GE.
