I agree. It reminds me of some of my friends who consider themselves Democrats because they and their families have always been Democrats, yet they have no idea what the party stands for. In fact, many of their own beliefs are in direct opposition to those espoused by the party leaders. They are just living their lives, totally uninformed about what is really going on in the political realm. When election time rolls around, they dutifully go vote Democrat without even knowing what they are voting for. Amazing!

I have a friend in Florida, a life-long union guy.
He is completely bigoted against minorities and homosexuals.
He's against abortion.
He thinks we ought to build a moat on the Mexican border and fill it with alligators and pirahnas.
He's a veteran and believes we ought to be engaged against Islamofiscism
He has never voted for anyone not a dhimmicrat.
Go figure!
