I don't see where this can be "interpreted" any other way than how it is written. Much of the problems with dogma amongst different dinominations of Christianity boils down to "interpretation". Those who wish to "interpret" the bible need only read these verses in Rev. 22 [18] For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: [19] And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. In essence the words written in the bible are to be followed literally, no "interpretation" needed.

Being as literalist as I can be, the statement is about "prophecy" and all statements found in the Bible are not in and of themselves "prophecy".
