At first they made it sound like the mother of the baby also had a 17 y.o son. When I read she was only 23, I thought she'd gotten married awfully young!

Any time I see quotes around a term in a 'news story', I begin to suspect that the 'author' or 'editor' is trying to steer me toward a particular conclusion, and not just giving me the 'facts'.
