Muslim plane anger

The decision to remove two men from a flight before it took off from the Spanish port of Malaga for the English city of Manchester after fellow passengers feared they might be terrorists was condemned by Muslim leaders in Britain, it was reported yesterday. Some among the 150 passengers on board the Monarch Airlines flight demanded that staff remove two men after they expressed alarm about their behaviour on Wednesday, a spokesman for the airline said.

Cabin crew informed Spanish authorities of the passengers’ fears and the men - who apparently looked Asian and spoke Arabic - were taken off the flight and questioned by police. The pair flew back to Manchester later in the week and were not arrested by British police. Khalid Mahmoud, a governing Labour Party MP, told The Guardian the decision was "hugely irrational". "You can’t just accuse anybody who’s of Asian appearance and treat them like a terrorist.

"If somebody is threatening anybody it’s understandable, but when they are just travelling for their own needs it’s not. "People just need to calm down." The Islamic Human Rights Commission told the newspaper that "ever-increasing Islamophobia" was to blame for the removal of the men.

The Daily Mirror, meanwhile, quoted Muhammad Abdul Bari, head of the Muslim Council of Britain, as saying: "While it is sensible for all of us to be vigilant, it is not sensible to pick on Muslims simply because they happen to dress differently or appear to be speaking to each other in Arabic." Travellers have been increasingly jittery in the wake of Britain’s announcement that an alleged terror plot was foiled about ten days ago.

The airlines will have to adjust to passenger sensitivities.

To be fair, I have to say that if I were a law-abiding Arab in Britain, I wouldn't be too happy about people freaking out and calling in a terrorist threat just because I was speaking Arabic. I had a good Arab friend (Christian) who got on the phone at work and spoke Arabic to his wife all the time. Someone could have phoned in a panicky call about him. I don't know if it's racism, but it's rather dumb. It's also pretty ugly to call them all "sandmaggots" as I've read in posts. That description certainly does apply to a percentage, but I've know many decent, admirable Arabs.

That said, I'm going to say the same thing about the Arab community that I say about the black community here. The reason they both get unfairly profiled and treated with suspicion is because they both have serious problems with crime. Do cops harass black people? Sure. They don't do it because they don't like them, but they've seen lots of black faces in the criminal lineup. It's not racism per se. Both those communities can solve the problem by policing themselves a hell of a lot better. Their leaders need to stop whining about predjudice and instead start throwing their stinking vermin out! They need to show them they are not welcome. Yet I have no pretenses they'll ever do that. Muslims stick together because many consider it wrong to report another muslim to a "kafir" (infidel) no matter what. OK, then, suffer the consequences.

So, while I acknowledge the point that it's really bad to be that one individual who gets stupidly singled out, those communities that protect them are the real cause of the trouble. The Muslim community in Britain is a putrifying bunch, but you'll never hear their leaders condemn their members.

Confusing though... like calling Mexicans or Canadians Americans because they live on the North American continent.

Or like calling French or Germans or Italians Europeans because they live on the continent of Europe.

Would they be more upset if the passengers just chose to wait until the flight was airborn and then beat the crap out of those guys?

Seriously - I don't like that it has come to this, but when folks that are of the same ethnicity and religion of you have made a name for "your" people like Muslim terrorists have - then it's up to you to work AGAINST those images by fighting against the terrorists.

Why the he!! should they. A major Muslim plot to destroy airplanes was exposed just in time

The Islamic Human Rights Commission told the newspaper that "ever-increasing Islamophobia" was to blame for the removal of the men.

FOAD clown! Another clueless jerk making excuses for the so called Ummah

I think racial and religious profiling is terrible. So unjust!

But being a practical man, I will not make a complaint without offering a solution to this gross and bigoted ethnic and religious injustice.

Being a fair man, and well known for same in my community, I think this is the best solution:

Muslims should travel by camel.
Until I say otherwise

When the Sons of Allah design and build an airplane entirely on their own from the ground up, I will accept their individual applications for flights on our airplanes. You ask, "Can't we all just get along?"

Yes, of course we can. Our forefathers divided the world rather neatly into Christendom and Islam. So, Muslims should remain neatly and quietly on their portion of the planet, where they may continue their pastoral pursuits, marry innumerable cousins, and raise hordes of enthusiastic jihadists, with multiple physical and mental defects. Call me when they reform their religion into something that is something more than the 14-century pestilence it has been.

Perhaps at that time, I and some Muslim chaps could enjoy an airplane ride together.

You gotta quite while you're ahead, amigo!

Main Entry: ori·en·tal
Pronunciation: "or-E-'en-t&l
Function: adjective
1 often capitalized : of, relating to, or situated in Asia

Main Entry: Occidental
Function: noun
: a member of one of the occidental peoples; especially : a person of European ancestry

You can't have it both ways, as in Eastern Occidental. By your definition, Poland is Eastern Occidental.

Occidental = the West
Oriental = the East

I don't blame them.

WHY should they risk their life on a politically correct profile? I wouldn't. If they want to die right now, go ahead! I've got a few things to live for. When I'm older, I won't care as much. Kids need their own biological parents.

That's a great idea -- the Muslims should boycott the airlines.

Be careful. A turban is different than a kaffaiyeh or other Arab headdress. Many wearers of turbans are neither Muslims nor Arabs: for example, Sikhs and Hindus often wear them. Most Arabs traveling abroad wear ordinary Western clothing, including hats, instead of their national costume, so don't assume that the guy in the turban in the boarding line ahead of you is a Muzi.
