The decision to remove two men from a flight before it took off from the Spanish port of Malaga for the English city of Manchester after fellow passengers feared they might be terrorists was condemned by Muslim leaders in Britain, it was reported yesterday. Some among the 150 passengers on board the Monarch Airlines flight demanded that staff remove two men after they expressed alarm about their behaviour on Wednesday, a spokesman for the airline said.
Cabin crew informed Spanish authorities of the passengers fears and the men - who apparently looked Asian and spoke Arabic - were taken off the flight and questioned by police. The pair flew back to Manchester later in the week and were not arrested by British police. Khalid Mahmoud, a governing Labour Party MP, told The Guardian the decision was "hugely irrational". "You cant just accuse anybody whos of Asian appearance and treat them like a terrorist.
"If somebody is threatening anybody its understandable, but when they are just travelling for their own needs its not. "People just need to calm down." The Islamic Human Rights Commission told the newspaper that "ever-increasing Islamophobia" was to blame for the removal of the men.
The Daily Mirror, meanwhile, quoted Muhammad Abdul Bari, head of the Muslim Council of Britain, as saying: "While it is sensible for all of us to be vigilant, it is not sensible to pick on Muslims simply because they happen to dress differently or appear to be speaking to each other in Arabic." Travellers have been increasingly jittery in the wake of Britains announcement that an alleged terror plot was foiled about ten days ago.
Muslim=rage
* "People just need to calm down."
(** Like hell we do.)
Yeah, just like those terrorists said on 9/22. Everybody stay calm and nobody will get hurt, that sort of thing.
Why the rush to keep repeating this pattern?
Yet another example of Muslims misdirecting their anger.
Muslims will be known for the next 1000 years as terrorists even if they stopped terrorizing today. Any religion that sits quietly by (best case) when their followers cowardly kill innocents, children deserves the mark of scorn.
And think of the word "Indians" which means people from--- India? Indiana? Indochina? Indonesia? --- New Mexico?
Yes, let them do a little of the "why do they hate us?" thing.
I'll second that motion big time.
Well, that's just palne stupid.
Confusing though... like calling Mexicans or Canadians Americans because they live on the North American continent.
Now they are taking it to the next step, and demanding that we be afraid to express our fear of them.
When they achieve this level of fear they will have complete control.
The brits have been using that terminology for hundreds of years before the US even existed.
I understand the terms perfectly, whenever I read them in the Brit context. That would include former Brit possessions.
Perhaps we Americans should have more carefully adopted the old existing Brit definitions.
Brits get a lot of stuff wrong.
Why would they call a car trunk a "boot"? Cars don't even have feet!
Good luck trying to tell them they got lots of words "wrong".
ROFL!
OK, everyone, clam down...just clam down.
Here's another "Muslim Off the Plane" incident.
No apology for behaving in a suspicious manner, just the usual Muslim whining.
We're begining a winning strategy here.
It's sad to many Americans want to remain calm and go back to sleep, while our enemy plots our death.
No, they've used that term since America was a British colony. It's just another difference between Brit English and American English, not a PC euphamism.
The western edge of Asia is Turkey (called in ancient times "the province of Asia" or "Asia Minor"), and the countries of the Levant: Israel, Lebanon, Syria. These coutries, everything east of them, comprise the continent of Asia.
