A Winnipeg doctor is demanding an official apology and compensation from United Airlines after being kicked off a flight in the U.S. this week, an incident he has characterized as "institutionalized discrimination." Dr. Ahmed Farooq, a Muslim, was escorted off an airplane in Denver on Tuesday. According to Farooq, reciting his evening prayers was interpreted by one passenger as an activity that was suspicious.
"The whole situation is just really frustrating," Farooq said. "It makes you uneasy, because you realize you have to essentially watch every single thing you say and do, and it's worse for people who are of colour, who are identifiable as a minority."
Farooq said the allegation came from a passenger who appeared drunk and had previously threatened him during the trip.

It is a privilege, not a right, for the rest of us as well. Not to be a thread hijacker (maybe an inappropriate way of stating it for this thread), but I get tremendously annoyed by some of the comments freepers make about being "inconvenienced".
Don't like it ... drive there (which is what I do if the destination is within 8 hours or so).
Uh, so how did anyone even know the guy was praying? Was he bowing face down in the aisle? Was he doing that weird, sing-songy thing in a loud voice? Obviously, he was doing something conspicuous. Just wonder what it was.
If I took out a rosary and start praying out loud, they would tell me that I was disturbing other passengers. If I didn't stop the praying out loud, I am sure they would also kick me off the plane. I would be so unnerved if I heard a Muslim chanting and moaning. A group of Catholics didn't ram planes filled with passengers into buildings. It was Muslims moaning and chanting.

And there you have it, the condescention generally seen on display by the left. He's the problem oh wise one, given taqiyya, the violent nature of the koran, parents signing children up for suicide bombing, the silence of the muslim masses, and the number of acts by muslim "extremists", it's difficult, if not impossible to tell who is an extremist. But, odds are, if terror is coming your way, a muslim will be bringing it.
Not all muslims are terrorists, but most terrorists are muslim.

My McVeigh example was in reply to Slayer's lame "I'm not a muslim. Therefore I'm not a terrorist" remark.
There is no "defeaning silence". Thousands and thousands of Muslim leaders and Imams have condemned terrorism time and again, you just choose to ignore it.

BUT THEIR RELIGION DOES NOT TELL THEM TO DO IT!
In fact, they are ABERRANT to their religion when they commit such crimes.
Nowhere in the Bible could McVeigh point to a passage that ordered, and sanctioned, what he did. NO priest or cleric stood in a place of worship and gave him marching orders before, or praised him afterward.
The Christian religion condemns what McVeigh did. It did not make him a hero-martyr.
Mc Veigh and Mohammed Atta. Wanna compare?
Mc Veigh acted against the commandments of the religion he supposedly believed in.
Atta acted in obedience to the commandments of Islam.
McVeigh is considered an evil murderer by Christianity.
Atta is considered a hero martyr by Islam.
Now tell me how one McVeigh = millions of Muslim terrorists.
Tell me how his act condemns Christianity while those millions of Muslims don't condemn Islam.
If my religion told me I had to a) pray at a certain time, b) in specific words, c) in a certain tone of voice, d) occupying a specific area of real estate . . . I would probably arrange air travel, in which quiet and space are at a premium, so as to avoid having to perform A through D in what cannot be a calming, beatifying state.
When I was in Somalia in the mid-80s, there were a whole lot of things you were not allowed to do in public. Praying in public would have gotten you stoned. And not the good kind of stoned...
When you are a minority you either assimilate or adapt. Adaptation involves inconvenience. Get used to it.
I wish that were true. Our institutions practice indiscriminate surveillance.
I am very proud and unapologetic at my bigotry toward islam. As for ignorance? I will meet you any time any place for an ignorance-a-thon about the historical atrocities of Islam from the 7th century to the present day.
Most reasonable civilized people prefer to concentrate on today, however. So the murders of the last 100 years are most relevant.
Ignorance of islam allows non islamic supporters and apologists. Knowledge of islam causes uncontrolable rage among normal people.
The only difference between islamofascists and plain muslims is that the "plain" muslims have not had the opportunity to get away with the identical murder.
Islamofacists are just the ones who take all that nonsense seriously.

I don't think there is any requirement in the Koran for people to pray while on a few-hours flight to anywhere.
He could just have well waited until he landed.
Most important, it is known that the terrorists who hijacked the 9/11 planes did their prayers before they launched their filthy jihad on the passengers.
I'm pretty sure that Muslims are required to pray five times a day, at set hours. That's why the "prayer call" sounds in places like Dearborn.

Imagine the guy, sitting next to you, a mideastern type, young guy, maybe 30, eyes closed, hands on lap to either side with palm facing up.
He is muttering audibly, his lips are moving, and there is a bead of sweat at his temple. You can just make out him saying something like "Aloooo akhbahr" over and over again. You know enough to know that means "God is Great".
You look over, and you see the other passengers in the seats around you staring openly in your direction with clear terror in their eyes.
Yup. I would be nervous.
