As the Atlantic hurricane season nears its peak period, forecasters said today the tropics were quiet.
Tropical storm formation is not expected through Monday, National Hurricane Center meteorologists said today.
The weak low pressure system that had been threatening Florida has moved inland over southeastern Georgia and is no longer a concern, forecasters said. A rather quiet season so far
The Atlantic basin has been eerily quiet as mid-August arrives with a relatively tame hurricane season in place so far.

My tongue-in-cheek posts about the lack of tropical development so far this year is in no way meant to minimize the seriousness of hurricanes and their effects. I've lived in Louisiana all my life and have relations and friends who've been affected by storms. Indeed, I've been to New Orleans since Katrina, and the flooding damage was hard to comprehend.
Instead, the effort is meant to poke fun at those who forcast doom at every turn and who predicted a storm-a-day for this season. Marple put it well: ...meterological media all dressed up with no place to go

And the Rat party and the Drive By MSM is deeply saddened.
I think they would settle for anything by now , especially coming upon the Katrina anniversary, so they could bash Bush.

probably just another useless KEYWORD:
CRYPTOMETEROLOGY
as in the meterology of looking for weather systems (e.g., hurricanes) that
detailed computer modeling insist MUST be there...
only they ain't

It depends on the average expectancy of a malted milk ball.

My tongue-in-cheek posts about the lack of tropical development so far this year is in no way meant to minimize the seriousness of hurricanes and their effects.Oh, I understand where you're coming from, and I appreciate your comments. It makes me absolutely furious to see the Dims and the media "meteorologists" all but dropping to their knees and begging for a monster hurricane to come along and wipe out another major city so they can win a friggin' election and say "We were right about global warming!!! Nyah-nyah-nyah!!!" They're way past using shovels in their race to the bottom - they've started using the drilling equipment and explosives to dig through the bedrock.
BTW, I got to experience the eyes of Charley, Frances and Jeanne come within 15 miles of my house in 2004.

Time to go back to reporting the plague of shark attacks. Don't forget crocodiles, pythons, and any dog remotely resembling a pit-bull ... all good for top of the news stuff.

You just don't understand climate change. Global warming is melting the ice caps which make the ocean waters cooler. This is why we have no Hurricanes and the penguins are drowning.
Won't SOMEBODY please think of the drowning PENGUINS!!!

NEW DEPRESSION NOW FORMING.....APPEARS TO BE LOCATED OVER THE WEATHER CHANNEL HURRICANE EXPERTS. EXPECTED TO STRENGTHEN. STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS.....Emergency supplies are desperately needed to help the inhabitants of the media cope with this unprecedented disaster. Severe shortages of sleeping pills, sharp knives, rope and ammunition are anticipated.

Interesting....
My leftie brother says that the Atlantic Ocean is cooler this year than it was last year as a result of global warming. If I recall, he claimed it was warmer last year because of global warming also.

Well that's why Gore and company switched from the too-specific "global warming" to the one-size-fits-all buzzterm "climate change". Now they've got both ends covered no matter what happens.

Would the excessive heat in the MidWest have any possible contribution to this strange hurricane season?

Global Warming caused the lack of hurricanes this year!

This was supposeo be a RECORD YEAR with HURRICANES romping ashore every couple of weeks! What happened? I want to see tough interviews with the same clowns the MSM was giving such credence to only a month ago. LOL
