The president and first lady returned to the White House today after a brief rest at Camp David. With no other news to report and only a few new photos available, todays Dose will be dedicated to the fairer half of the first couple: Laura Bush.
Enjoy your Sunday visit to Sanity Island
Hi Mike...How have you been...how are your boys?
I'm doing good, and the boys are doing good, how about you and Mike? and of course your son
As someone said earlier,
I'm awed that you would say that ... Thank you.
(((Buddy)))
LMAO!!! That's true! I don't think I would even have to include captions with the photos :)
No but you might have to censor some of the female contributors comments :o)
Thank you - I need silent_jonny blushing smilie
Here's a couple shots of "young Laura." (I only have two, but maybe someone else has some other ones).
In Ronald Kessler's book about Laura (I think that's the one) there's a photo of Laura at 19 or 20 standing with a sheriff. She was severely cute--Laura, not the sheriff :)
I don't have the book, but if I did I would scan that photo and post it.
I just realized I forgot the Quote of the Day. But that's okay--there was nobody to quote today, lol
I'll remember it next time, though.
They must have caught wind of the hippies :)
Everyone is fine here...anxious to see Jonathan the 1st of Sept for a few days....Mike and I were kinda looking forward to the drive and getting away, but Jonathan wants to see his new girlfriend so this works out better...
President Bush is a lucky man to have Laura by his side.
They have a wonderful, affectionate, teasing relationship.
I love what he said about Laura :
On their relationship: "I guess she does like the fact that I can make her laugh sometimes. The good news is, no matter how stale my jokes are, she makes me feel good by laughing at 'em. We do laugh together, and Laura brings me great comfort. It's very helpful to know that in this wonderful job that I am not alone."
"Recalling when they met: First of all I saw a beautiful woman, but I also felt an inner beauty. She had a real calm about her. "Still waters run deep" is the old statement. It's hard to describe why it is, that "click," why it is two people become infatuated with each other and then fall in love. It didn't take me long, about a three-month courtship. In many ways it was just a couple of days. . . . She's just a very unique lady."
The First Lady is such a class act. Just like her Mother in Law was when she was First Lady. I used to get so irritated at the press when they used to say she looked more like President Bush's mother rather than his wife. Absolutely without any class or sense of propriety.
I have some from a book about her - give me 5 minutes I will scan and post
I remember every First Lady since Eleanor and Laura Bush is far and away the finest First Lady of them all.
The first First Lady I remember is Rosalyn Carter (((shudder))) :)
But I agree with you completely. We were doubly blessed with both a fine president and a fine first lady in George & Laura Bush.
There is about half dozen photos of the cattle on the White House Website they could be used on a pet or ranch day theme.
