Excellent post PerConPat!
We had one ego maniac for much of the 90's we don't need another. We already have portraits of what we need as the next President. They are Ronald Reagan and our current President GW Bush.It it will be hard to accept any less.

Hello,
Very well said, thank you.
McCain is emotionally unsuitable to be POTUS. It must never happen.
Glad to be here, MOgirl

I totally agree with you that people see McCain as too dangerous and unstable to be POTUS. He has done this to himself. It is not part of anyone's campaign. He snapped at Maria Schriver (Swartzenegger), he can't set aside grudges and grievances, he is churlish, he holds his breath and turns blue when he doesn't get his way (all the while also holding key legislation or appointees hostage). Enough people have witnessed this. Too bad folks like Zook don't see it, but his support for President is marginal.

Hello,
Excellent overview of the problem with McCain. I met him in the early 80's, as my folks were active in AZ politics at the time. He seemed (to my 14 year old mind) to be a very smart and able man. My parents thought the same. Over the years, I have concluded that he has issues that can not be overcome, and should not be addressed during a term as President of the US.
Glad to be here, MOgirl

Senator Hagel seems insincere and manipulative. Perhaps he is in training to make the big flip.
Hillary needs a "conservative" to run with. Hagel, a red stater, is a natural. He will wait till after the election but then?
A flip to the RATS would be the biggest and best news the RATS could hope for.

Thanks. Glad you're here too. I chuckle when people refer to McCain as the Manchurian Candidate because there may be some connection to the way he acts now as a result of the torture, or at least captivity, he suffered in Hanoi Hilton. Of course there are stories he received favored treatment due to his Dad and Granddad both being Admirals. I'd say his main problem is malignant narcissism.
To: shrinkermd
Beyond being clever, Senator Hagel may have undergone a personal or political epiphany that he can't wait to fill us in on.

Hello,
Good call. It does not matter how he got to this point, he must not become POTUS. EVER.

#516, I do not have any faith in any Democrat to keep us safe because they are not led by men of Courage, they are led by People who can relate to Del Shannon's 1960's hit song "Runaway". I do not care how many Democrats that are fairly conservative try to paint this Picture differently, leadership in their Party are not out to protect us,they are Pro Terrorist/anti American, and only interested in getting back their Power, and keeping it for as long as they can. It is sad that there are any decent Democrats left in the Party of Pelosi,Hillary,Chuckie.

#517, I am with you on this. Even Police Officers would rather be up against a Big Guy with a gun than a 5ft2" 100 lb. mentally ill person. Imagine a Guy that is not up to speed mentally with all the stress of the Presidency. I do not want to even go there.
