#465, you are exactly right the DBM has enough ammunition to use on McCain for 10 other candidates, plus MCcain. He thought they loved him for his sweetness, and sense of Humor on the Straight Talk Express. What a crock......

You did such a fantastic quick job on the honorable mentions and top ten, you need to rest your eyes. Sunday MTST Freepers are giving you an order. We would rather have half a loaf than no loaf at all. Your posts today would certainly have been in the top five, but you would have had to bump somebody, and that is not your style.

By not focusing where the pain is, on illegal immigration you mischaracterize the whole debate. People begin their life in America flouting our laws and cheating those who want to come here legally. That's still the story. Those who say its about "immigration" are accusing their opponent of zenophobia, and are thus being dishonest.

#490, I think you need to breathe the air outside of schilling for McCain. I met John McCain years ago when he was still sane, and there is no comparison. You are in denial, and there is not much we can do to disabuse you of your State of mind on McCain. Almost all of the Freepers are very Political and know plenty of Independents. I am Married to an Independent,we have friends, family, acquaintances and Neighbors that are independents, and none of them would ever vote for McCain for President. The best thing they can say about him is that he was a POW hero, but not Presidential because he is acts like he is off his meds most of the time, and they feel sorry for him,and laud his service, but don't want a Nut near the Nuclear Button. I don't know any Democrats that would vote for McCain either, they would vote for the 100 percent Democrat, not the 30 Percenter.

#499, he probably tried to get Durango to change their name to Denver II so he would not have to change his screen name, and they refused.

You [Phsstpok] did such a fantastic quick job...

I agree; Phsstpok, thanks for your excellent insights and the Hewitt link.

#505. Samantha, I take encouragement from your faith in the majority of Americans' ability to see through the Left's shortsighted, selfish politicking. November 7th may well be regarded as a pivotal point in US history. If so, I sincerely hope that it is for all of the best reasons.

I am really scared of McCain. There is just something about him that causes me to fear for this country if he ever got elected to national office. I can not explain it but I have felt that way for years.

Rightly so, he is loose cannon and could blow up at any time, he would make a terrible leader.

I have watched, and participated in, the back and forth today as to McCain's suitability to be POTUS. To me, his lack of political judgment is the flaw that would be disastrous in a president. I, especially with my background, give him all of the respect that he is due as a patriot. But that cannot be allowed to take precedent over his lack of insight when it comes to the often unpleasant, but necessary, partisan aspects of being the party's leader.

In 2000, he went to Virginia and insulted religious leaders who were very powerful in that state. The effect of his alliances with Liberals to pass CFR etc. would have long since sunk the aspirations of a candidate without his war record. And now, we see that he cannot perceive the damage he does by publicly disagreeing with a POTUS facing a very difficult, and perhaps unprecedented, challenge.

I can only believe that he is driven by forces from within himself that are unable to restrain his ego. This, as we have seen before, is calamitous in a president. Any successful POTUS must constantly submerge emotions to keep a clear head for the never ending battle with critics and worse. I could never support his nomination; and I would only vote for him in the last resort.
