Re McCain and their supposed support of him.
He carries so much baggage, that DBM would have a field day, starting about one day after he won the nomination. They already have all the clips and quotes of his instability, etc ready to go, "in the interest of faaiirness to the dem candidate" they will be "forced" to report on them.
McCain is one of the few people who apparently does not foresee this statistical certainty in his future.
LOL...bless his heart...he said he had a lot of work to do...and I think he was more than right.
I bet he will have some moving horror storied to tell when he gets settled in Durango...and I look forward to everyone of them.
I am also sure that he is missing Mrs. MID. such a long time to be apart.

Ok, two can play at this game....
Tonight we're having family over for supper and I'm doing the honors. I have seven thick, well marbled T-bone steaks that I will lovingly introduce to a charcoal fire (but not for long). With that I have fresh yellow crookneck squash from the garden, steamed and buttered, and fresh green beans, big fat flat meaty ones off the pole this morning while they were glistening with dew! The vines are growing so tall I had to use the ladder to pick them all. Anyway, they'll be slow cooked all day with bacon to bring out their best flavor Southern style! My wife is making her classy primavera pasta salad with Greek katama olives, purple onions and hand picked cherry tomatoes (sun golds). I think we'll also kill a couple of bottles of California wine (while cooking and eating)!
This post should be green, I am that envious.

Here is a little example of an "interviewer" with a Republican guest, today's Gregory and McCain:
MR. GREGORY: Are you concerned that you’re effectively too close to the Bush policy on Iraq?
SEN. McCAIN: No. I’ve got to do what’s right for the country. And this is—this is really one of the most preeminent national security challenges we’ve faced in the post-Cold War era. We all know that. I’ve got to do what’s right.
MR. GREGORY: Let me show you something that you said about public support for the war back last year in November. Put it on our screen. “If we can’t retain the support of the American people, we will have lost this war as soundly as if our forces were defeated on the battlefield.” As you well know, public opinion has turned sharply against the war. Sixty percent, according to recent polls, say the war in Iraq has not been worth it. Has this government lost the people?
SEN. McCAIN: I don’t think so, in this respect. Most of the Americans, when you’re asked, “Do you want to set a date for withdrawal,” say no. Of course they’re frustrated. All of us are frustrated. I’ve expressed my frustrations to you this morning. But they are not ready to face the consequences of failure by setting a date certain for withdrawal, and I believe that, that they are largely, although frustrated, recognize the consequences of failure.
MR. GREGORY: There has certainly been a growing body of public opinion as well as conservative opinion in the media that has turned against the president in this war. This is what the editor of the conservative National Review wrote, comparing the war in Iraq to Vietnam—we’ll put it on our screen—from this week. “In Iraq, as in Vietnam, we face a vicious insurgency that has worn down the will of the American public. In Iraq, as in Vietnam, we have failed to cut off the enemy from re-supply. In Iraq, as in Vietnam, we have had ever-shifting military strategies. In Iraq, as in Vietnam, we have had trouble building effective, clean governmental institutions in the soil of an alien culture. Most importantly, in Iraq, as in Vietnam, we face the prospect of defeat.” You were in Vietnam. Is this Vietnam?
SEN. McCAIN: I don’t think so. In Vietnam there was a government that never had support of the people. It was a sort of a revolving door. There were massive re-supplies coming in from Russia and China. They had very—other significant differences.
I believe that this government still probably has—this freely-elected government probably still has the support of most of the people in Iraq. And there are areas of Iraq that are well under government control. But it’s—I—we risk failure in Iraq, but I don’t believe that we have reached nearly that point yet. I think we can still salvage it.

On Meet the Press, David Gregory was the substitute host once again, and he interviewed John McCain. McCain doesn't trust Don Rumsfeld but wants him to stay for as long as the President does. He supports Alan Schlesinger but refuses to campaign against Joe Lieberman. David Gregory, thinking that little Connecticut primary marked the beginning of a national trend, wanted to know if McCain's Presidential ambitions were dead because he was now so closely associated with the reviled Bush.
On FNS, Chris Wallace talked to Peter King about air security and let Rafi Ron and Clarke/Wilson buddy Rand Beers offer several lines. Then he talked to Chuck Hagel, who accused the President of killing Americans by sending them to Iraq but said that he wants to be judged a conservative on other issues even if he does agree with Ned on Iraq.
On TW, John Kerry admitted that Connecticut voters were not "John Kerry Democrats." He added that they were also not "Ned Lamont Democrats." Steph then talked to British Home Secretary John Reid, who said that the British had been successful in fighting terror because their legal responses were always under review and new measures were passed as needed. He said that there was no simple relationship between the war in Iraq and terrorist recruiting.
On FTN, Joe Lieberman talked about being unfairly characterized by Ned as a cheerleader for the President, and he emphasized mistakes he thinks the Administration has made regarding Iraq. Jim Vandehei, along to help Bob Schieffer asked questions, went off on a tirade about how 73% of the Americans are going to vote against Democrats because they want out of Iraq now and Joe doesn't. Joe explained why he doesn't want out of Iraq and maintained that the election was about Connecticut.
On LE, host Wolf Blitzer first spoke to Lebanese Justice Minister Charles Rizk, who blamed Israel for the raid near Baalbaeck, Lebanon. He said that there was no proof Syria was shipping weapons to Hezbollah and that the Lebanese Army was not in place yet. He argued for the Israeli action, I thought, while trying to condemn it.
Blitzer next spoke to Senators Specter and Lieberman. Specter blamed the PRC for sending weapons to Iran which then were transferred to Hezbollah, and Di Fi said that Kofi Annan should give Shebba farm to the Lebanese.
