If this guy was trying "something", then they need to go over that 727 thoroughly. Even if there is no device, they can glean what the guy may have been trying to do from the WC. The guy may have been trying to disable the smoke detectors in the WC.

Absolutely not! They want the attack to take place BEFORE the elections so they can condemn President Bush and every Republican for not "keeping us safe" and say THEY would do a better job of protecting us.

That is my guess based on that being fairly common (smokers trying to disable the smoke detectors so as to sneak a puff). I am not very familiar with the deadspaces in a 727, but I can contemplate that he MAY have been trying to fiddle with something other than the smoke detector.
