The Chinese chariot (221BC)
18/08/06
A team of horses lay frozen at the gallop, revealed to the world after thousands of years. Archaeologists digging at Luoyang, in Chinas central Henan province, were astonished to find the animals perfectly preserved remains laid out in eerie symmetry, still tethered to the chariot they had been pulling.
Historians believe the remains date from the Eastern Zhou dynasty, which ended in the year 221BC. If that is correct, it would make the chariot with its delicately spoked wheels, a marvel of engineering for its time.
Theories about how the horses came to be entombed include death on the battlefield or in a landslide.
However, some experts think the careful, almost ceremonial arrangement of the animals could indicate that they were laid to rest with care, possibly alongside their owner.
Chinese week continues.
Blonde Haired Mongoloid
"Global Flash-Freezing," no doubt.
The chariot in the photo doesn't look quite real, and brings to mind the Mercedes-Benz coffins in Africa, or the idols of planes from one of those Pacific island cargo cults.
Why does it say that? They're not in a galloping position.
I suppose it's covered with pink plaster or some such, but it's run right up over those horses. Looks very posed.

Something sinister about this picture. Shades of Alien vs. predator.
The horses are laid out almost symmetrically, so it's ceremonial, I'd guess. I'd say a grave if human remains are also found there.
Reminds me of the Omen's jackal skeleton. Need a pic.
A beautiful photograph of the littel girl, Blam!
Plenty of horsepower for the chariot, I notice.

The hair, horse, spoked wheels and the chariot were all 'gifts' from the west.
bizzare, except for her eyes she looks like she could be German.
Her face is a little too flat and nose is a little too flared for a German, a beauty regardless.
