N. Korean Authorities Urge Civilians to Evacuate Near Site of Possible Nuke Test (Breaking)
Headline News Yahooo Japan (in Japanese) JIJI PRESS ^ | 19 August 2006 | JIJI Press, quoting Joongang Ilbo Daily

Posted on 08/18/2006 7:46:33 PM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

Reports from Seoul Korea, (daily newspaper Joongang Ilbo in Seoul) via the Japanese Jiji press agency, that South Korean intelligence has intercepted radio messages/communications in North Korea, which were aired last month, to civilians in the Kilju County, Northern Hamgyeong Province area of northeastern D.P.R.K., to evacuate.

The source in the South Korean government said "our interpretation is that following North Korea's underground nuclear blast test, they wish to head off any escape of radiation that would be a threat to the nearby civilian population and are evacuating as such."

The President in Camp David just today specifically--out of the clear blue--warning North Korea directly, NOT TO DO IT.

he wont do jack sh*t....sad to say, but its true. Iran and Hesbo are laughing at him so why would North Korea be any different?

how? we won't use nukes on them in a first strike.

and a conventional war against iran with take "one day"? you've been watching too much discovery channel, where the air war is wrapped up in 60 minutes - with 4 commercial breaks.

Some of us got slammed just today for theorizing the exact scenario.

Then the people slamming you are complete idiots. This is a rather large stakes gamble. The one obvious way out for NK/Iran is if the nuke test 'fails' ... then they get to quietly fold their hands. If it works .. looks like WWIII is on.

Would you? Are you aware that essentially, you (US Taxpayer) are 'buying' untested nuclear weapons?

Different thing. We have successfully detonated several of each variant. It is like when you buy a rifle, and the barrel says "proof tested". We have "proof tested" our arsenal.

I wonder about that too. What is the real purpose?

Do you have information that shows a bloodless walk in the park?

The only bloodless walk in the part of the US if this balloon goes up will be tactical and strategic nuclear bombardment of Iran with a clearly worded warning to North Korea that they are next without an unconditional surrender.

let's face it, if they have the material - the trigger mechanism for a simple hiroshima type bomb - is trivial. with the help from the Paks they've gotten - it will work.

Yes, you are right. President Bush has a history of not launching wars and/or regime change against anti-American tyrants after warning them. /s

"The damage done to the United States by that foul creature, his shrew, and his cronies, is incalculable."

That bears repeating.

Not sure how big a deal on the nuke testing though. I think most of the testing was done just to see what type of yields and damage they would do - rather than "testing" to make sure they work. And computer modeling has taken over determining the yields, damage, etc.

I believe that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were left in good condition for the Bombs so that the Japs could see the full effects of the Bombs, and also for our scientists to study.

our stuff has stood the test of time.

Has it? Really? You sure?

I sincerely hope so ...

Have the weapons themselves decomposed or degraded?

I sincerely hope not!

Has design also stagnated?

I sincerely hope not!

Have the new designs been tested? Testing is not something done with computers. That's simulation. Testing is done with actual hardware. And we haven't done any testing since 1992.

Check this out:

From http://reformsyria.blogspot.com/2006/07/august-22-doomsday-in-middle-east.html

Understand the importance of Laylat al-Sira’a wa al-Miira’aj

Is the Hezbollah attack against Israel on July 12 that started this chain of events by Israel against Lebanon embedded into the beginning of something much more sinister?

People of the Middle East are obsessed with symbolism, especially when it strongly supports honor and dignity. When a statement by the Supreme National Security Council of Iran says it will reply by Aug. 22 to the Western incentive package to stop enriching uranium, it chose that date for a very precise reason.

August 21, 2006 (Rajab 27, 1427) is known in the Islamic calendar as the Night of the Sira’a and Miira'aj, the night Prophet Mohammed (saas) ascended to heaven from the Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on a Bourak (Half animal, half man), while a great light lit-up the night sky, and visited Heaven and Hell also Beit al-Saada and Beit al-Shaqaa (House of Happiness and House of Misery) and then descended back to Mecca. The night of August 21 is a very, very important night in Shia'a Islam. What Iran's Ahmadinajead is promising the world by August 22 is the light in the sky over the Aqsa Mosque that took place the night before. That is his answer to the package of incentives the international community offered Iran on June 6.

The world and especially the US State Department should take this date seriously. Nothing happens without a reason in Iran and the events in Lebanon were intentionally started by Hezbollah, with Iran's tacit knowledge and approval leading to the Rajab 27 night when it delivers its answer, in the form of "light in the sky", over the Aqsa Mosque.

don't worry about that part of it - if we ever had to use ours, they will work.

the US will never use nukes first.

That's a load of crap as well. A chem agent is a bio agent is a nuke. Guess what? We only have one of those and we will use them.

Plans during the 70's called for first tactical nuclear strike on the Soviet armored forces if they broke through the Fulda Gap in a Germany invasion and it looked like we were about to lose.

We used nukes first on Japan and we have NEVER ruled out first use.

So the party starts early. As for the test date, would it be Aug. 22 or Sept. 9?
